Drones Deliver Covid Vaccine in Africa

Democratic Republic of the Congo , first it was pizza now its vaccine , according to Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security Drones have previously been used for the delivery of medical supplies, including vaccines, to areas that are remote or difficult to access. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) recently announced a partnership between VillageReach, Swoop Aero, and the DRC Ministry of Health—“Drones for Health”—will use drone to promote equitable access to healthcare for half a million people in remote communities of the Equateur province. In addition to standard medical supplies, the new program is expected to support SARS-CoV-2 vaccination efforts in the country. These drones will be used to deliver medicine and other supplies to 75 health facilities in the province.

Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine Demonstrates Near 90% Efficacy in UK Phase 3 Trial

GAITHERSBURG MD,  Novavax, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX), a biotechnology company developing next-generation vaccines for serious infectious diseases, today announced that NVX-CoV2373, its protein-based COVID-19 vaccine candidate, met the primary endpoint, with a vaccine efficacy of 89.3%, in its Phase 3 clinical trial conducted in the United Kingdom (UK). The study assessed efficacy during a period with high transmission and with a new UK variant strain of the virus emerging and circulating widely. It was conducted in partnership with the UK Government’s Vaccines Taskforce. Novavax also announced successful results of its Phase 2b study conducted in South Africa.

Ridgewood Crew Wins 16 Medals at the 2021 Ironman Regatta

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Crew team participated in the annual Ironman Erg Classic held 100% virtually and hosted by Don Bosco Prep High School in Ramsey on January 23, 2021. The event attracted 17 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 44 entries. 

Ridgewood performed well, according to Head Coach Boris Roque-Alvarez, “This event was a great opportunity to all RC athletes and will help the team to keep motivated in a difficult season giving the challenges presented by COVID-19. We are proud of the whole team and we are looking forward to race in upcoming events.”

Audrey has encouraged all Valley employees and Medical Staff members to receive the vaccine. “This fills me with hope for the future,” she said.

According to the CDC, Messenger RNA vaccines—also called mRNA vaccines—are some of the first COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the United States.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood school district reported the  following Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases from January
18 through January 22, 2021.   In order to reduce the number of email communications, the district will issue COVID-19 notification letters on Tuesday and Friday beginning January 26, 2021, unless there is a situation where a school must transition to all remote learning.
