Ridgewood NJ, On October 16, 1975, New York City was deep in crisis. At 4 p.m. the next day, four hundred and fifty-three million dollars of the city’s debts would come due, but there were only thirty-four million dollars on hand. If New York couldn’t pay those debts, the city would officially be bankrupt.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood blog has previously reported on a homeless woman  with what appears to be a serious drinking problem who’s made repeated bogus 911 calls. She was arrested once again this week after she allegedly broke into the Ridgewood Public library. Ridgewood Police responded to a burglar alarm and reported  that they found the 56-year-old woman in the library shortly after 2 a.m. on Thursday.

Ridgewood Village Council Elections May 12th

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Board of Education Election and the Ridgewood Municipal Election (to elect Village Councilmembers) will both be held on the same date, May 12, 2020.  These elections will be a vote by mail election only.  Vote by mail ballots will be sent to all registered voters, with a deadline to return them to the County.  There will be two separate ballots in the envelope sent to you, one for the Board of Education and the second one for the Village Council.  The envelopes included with the ballots are postage paid.

Wyckoff Lowers Property Taxes

Wyckoff NJ, the Township of Wyckoff  has approved a drop in the municipal property tax rate. The change was approved by the Township Committee at its budget hearing,  lowering property taxes on the average home valued at $793,800, by $5.56 to $2,002.76.

The 2020 municipal budget, excluding grants, is $20,087,460, up $366,749 or 1.86%.  The municipal amount to be raised by taxes, excluding the state-mandated $1.56 million for the library, is $11,940,626, up $4,123 or 0.03% . The municipal tax rate is down 0.00007 cents per $100 assessed valuation from 0.253 to 0.2523.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Mahwah Police Department under the direction of Chief Stephen Jaffe.

Department of Homeland Security : Sunlight destroys the COVID-19 virus quickly

Ridgewood NJ, coronavirus is quickly destroyed by sunlight, according to new research announced by a senior US official on Thursday, though the study has not yet been made public and awaits external evaluation.

William Bryan, science and technology advisor to the Department of Homeland Security secretary, told reporters at the White House that government scientists had found ultraviolet rays had a potent impact on the pathogen, offering hope that its spread may ease over the summer.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Jeff Muhlstock who did camera work for some of the biggest TV news magazines in the country: “60 Minutes,” “Dateline,” and “Nightline.” Has released a digital recording of his up close and very personal battle with COVID19 .  The 57-year-old man made of his COVID-19 journey to the Hospital and then his return home . The 13 and a half minute video follows Muhlstock from early symptoms to his hospitalization ,his first dose of the anti-malaria drug, Chloroquine to his release April 5, being brought home by ambulance, with his wife, son and daughter waiting with celebratory signs.
