Traffic Stopped after Car Hits utility pole at the Intersection of Route 208 Northbound and Harristown Road in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, a single vehicle, Wednesday morning, 01/04, crash into a utility pole at the intersection of Route 208 northbound and Harristown Road, Glen Rock, caused a communications cable to drop across the entire width of Route 208, stopping traffic on the busy highway in both directions for over one (1) hour. No injuries were reported in the crash; a flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged vehicle from the intersection.

Glen Rock Police Looking for Witnesses of “Naked Man” Incident

Glen Rock NJ, on October 27 at 10:24 AM a Glen Rock resident of Elizabeth Street reported observing a naked man pacing on the sidewalk in front of their home.  The subject was described as a younger adult male, possibly of Asian descent.  The subject drove off in a black Honda with New York plates, however, the complainant was able to take a photo of the license plate.

Driver of an SUV Transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center after it Slammed into a Utility pole on Maple Avenue in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, the driver of a Honda SUV was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center following a Tuesday morning, 11/01, single vehicle crash in which the Honda slammed into a utility pole on Maple Avenue, Glen Rock. A flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged car from the scene. Motor vehicle traffic in both directions on Maple Avenue between Ackerman Avenue and Clifton Place was diverted during the crash investigation and clean up.

No Injuries Reported in Collision at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Park Avenue in Glen Rock

Glen Rock NJ, no injuries were reported in a three (3) passenger vehicle collision at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Park Avenue, Glen Rock on Saturday night, 09/03. Two (2) vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash; they both were removed from the scene by tow trucks. Glen Rock Police Department and Glen Rock Fire Department responded to the incident (FD personnel attended to a crash related fluid spill).

Glen Rock NJ, Glen Rock Chief Dean Ackermann and the members of the Glen Rock Police Department are proud to welcome P.O. Andrew Magro # 8147 to the GRPD. P.O. Magro graduated from the Bergen County Police Academy Class #128 yesterday, following a 22-week Basic Training Course for newly hired Police Officers. At the graduation he was presented the Defensive Tactics Award by the instructors for excelling during the 80 hour defensive tactics and de-escalation portion of recruit training.

Glen Rock Police discover a tangled Web of on-line love Scammers

Glen Rock NJ, on Tuesday February 22 at 9:06 AM , a Glen Rock resident contacted police after becoming the victim of an online fraud. Detectives were able to trace one of the fraudulent payments from the victim to a 65-year-old female in Washington state. D/Sgt. James Calaski contacted the female from Washington and determined that she was also a victim of what is called a romance scam. The female had engaged in an online relationship with a male who she believed to be a contractor in Texas flipping houses. This man convinced her to “invest” $13,000 of her own money into these house flips. In addition, he convinced her to receive “investments” from other people and forward these payments to him in the form of crypto currency. These additional payments were more than $18,000. D/Sgt Calaski was able to convince her that she was the victim of a romance scam and assist her in ceasing her involvement and communication with the suspect. With the victim’s assistance, D/Sgt Calaski was able to track the suspect to Africa.

He is a 26 year old male named Kiariff Alston and he should be operating a black 2020 Toyota Corolla with temporary NJ registration W770831. Glen Rock NJ, during this past week, the Glen Rock Police Department received two additional reports from residents concerning fraudulent unemployment claims.  In each case unknown actor(s) used their personal information to apply for unemployment.  The detective bureau continues to receive ongoing complaints of this nature and is working with the NJ Division of Criminal Justice which is the lead investigating agency on fraudulent unemployment claims being filed throughout the state.

Retired Glen Rock Borough Administrator Bob Freudenrich Has Died

Glen Rock NJ, “It is with regret that the Glen Rock Police Department has learned of the passing of retired Borough Administrator Bob Freudenrich. He was Glen Rock’s first Borough Administrator, hired in the early 1970’s, retiring in the late 1990’s after 27 years of service. Bob remained active in the community up until the time of his passing. He most recently took part in Glen Rock’s Memorial Day services and the IDA Parade on July 4th.”

Vehicle Inspection Check Point in Glen Rock Nets 73 summonses

Glen Rock NJ, between 9 AM and 1 PM on Friday June 4th , the Glen Rock Police Department, in conjunction with the NJ State Motor Vehicle Commission, held a vehicle inspection check point along Maple Avenue at Harding Plaza. The operation is designed to remove dangerous vehicles from the road and promote safe driving practices. The checkpoint also had the added benefit of allowing 70 motorists, whose vehicles were due for inspection, to have their vehicles inspected free of charge with only a short wait.

Glen Rock NJ, from the Glen Rock Police Department , according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2019 distracted driving crashes killed 3,142 people in the U.S., an average of 9 deaths per day. That number was up 10 percent from the year before (2,839 deaths in 2018). In New Jersey, 137 people died in 2019 as a result of distracted driving.
Distracted driving remains a growing traffic safety problem according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety’s 2019 Traffic Safety Culture Index. The survey found most drivers (96 percent) believe typing or reading on a hand-held cellphone while driving to be very or extremely dangerous, but 39 percent admit to reading and 29 percent admit to typing on a smartphone at least once while behind the wheel within the last month.

Glen Rock Police Investigate Passover Hit and Run

Glen Rock NJ, Saturday March 27th at 1:10 p.m.  Glen Rock Police Patrols were dispatched to a hit and run motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Waldron Avenue. Upon arrival a Prospect Park woman recounted that she was driving south on Maple Avenue when the vehicle in front of her stopped short to yield for a bicyclist. The woman was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle. The vehicle. described as a grey VW Atlas, fled the scene south on Maple Avenue.

Glen Rock Police Report Vandalism to the Wilde Park Bathrooms Again

Glen Rock NJ, according to the Glen Rock Police Department Saturday night  they received a report of vandalism to the Wilde Park bathrooms again. We believe this damage is fairly recent as the fields have been in use and one of the bathroom dividers had been ripped off the wall and was laying outside and would have been noticed. These repeated incidents are discouraging to the town, the DPW and Recreation Departments who work hard to provide and maintain these facilities for the residents.

Glen Rock Police Search For “Hit and Run”

Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred on Maple Ave in front of Wilde Park on  November 6th at 11:30pm. It appears that an unknown vehicle was traveling north on Maple Ave and struck a telephone pole which caused the pole to break in half. The vehicle then fled the scene of the accident and continued north on Maple Ave. Anyone with any information on the accident or vehicle involved is asked to contact Traffic Sergeant McGovern at 201-652-3800.
