Hackensack, NJ — August 30, 2025 — A suspicious fire broke out Saturday night in Hackensack, torching at least three police vehicles in an overflow parking lot near Hackensack Fire Department headquarters and a nearby mosque, authorities confirmed.

Hackensack NJ, On Friday, March 28, 2025, at approximately 4:45 PM, the City of Hackensack Fire Department swiftly responded to a vehicle crash and fire at 235 Prospect Avenue, a multi-story residential high-rise.
Hackensack NJ, authorities lifted a shelter-in-place order after a suspicious item was received in the mail on Tuesday at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack, the home of county offices. Following an investigation, officials confirmed that the item posed no threat to public safety.
Ridgefield NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announces the following updated information regarding an investigation into a fatal fire at 850 Broad Avenue in Ridgefield, NJ, that occurred on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. An investigation is being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck and the Ridgefield Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Gallagher.
Rutherford NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of MARY ANNE HAMPL (DOB: 12/06/1961; single; unemployed) of Rutherford, NJ on arson-related charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit under the direction of Acting Chief Matthew Finck, and the Rutherford Police Department under the direction of Chief John Russo.
Hackensack NJ, Officials reported an unfortunate incident in Hackensack where a home, no longer equipped with an oil tank, received an unintended delivery of heating oil into its basement on Monday.

New Milford NJ, Tuesday at 5:38pm City of Hackensack Fire Department received a mutual aid request from New Milford Fire Department for an occupied vehicle that crashed into a structure with entrapment at 495 River Road. Hackensack Deputy 1, Safety Chief, UASI Special Operations, Hackensack Shoring Unit and Hackensack Rescue 1 responded. Upon arrival units assisted New Milford Firefighters with extracting one victim from the vehicle. At 6:07 Deputy 1 reported victim was placed in the care of BLS for treatment and transport to local hospital. City of Hackensack units remained on scene to assist with shoring up the damaged area of the structure so the vehicle can be safely removed.

Hackensack NJ, on Sunday July 10th 2nd platoon operated at 500 South River Street Taco Bell for a fire in the cockloft. Hackensack Fire Companies work extensively to open up the exterior wall and the roof area to contain the fire. Fire was brought under control in 45 Minutes. Englewood Fire, Teaneck Fire and Bogota Fire assisted at the scene. No injuries reported Fire is currently under investigation.

Hackensack NJ, on Sunday April 3rd @08:11 Hackensack Fire Desk received a 911 call reporting a fire at 99 Fair Street. While companies were responding Deputy 4 reported smoke from a distance and requested a 2nd alarm. Upon arrival companies were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions on the 2nd floor of the home with fire extending into the attic. Companies put several handlines in service to begin knocking down fire on the 2nd floor and to protect the house next door. Ladder 1 and rescue 1 conducted searches and began to open up the 2nd floor ceilings to gain access to the attic. Fire extended to the attic area due to limited access.
Hackensack NJ, for the second time this week the Hackensack Police Department gave the “All Clear” and the shelter in place order has been lifted at Hackensack High School , everyone is safe and schools will resume normal operations.
Hackensack NJ, according to the City of Hackensack Fire Department ,on Friday March 18 @10am Members of the 4th Platoon responded to Main and Davis for Three vehicle motor vehicle accident. One vehicle struck 20 Zabriskie Street causing significant damage to the building. Two reported injuries were treated by Hackensack BLS . Hackensack police is currently conducting the investigation. No additional information at this time.
Hackensack NJ, according to Hackensack Fire Department, on Sunday, March 20th @1932 hours members of the second platoon were dispatched to 105 State Street for a report of smoke in a second floor apartment. First arriving companies were met with smoke on the second and third floor with fire showing in the rear of the building and also for the roof area.

Hackensack NJ, students were sent back to class at Hackensack High School after being evacuated Friday morning. The school was evacuated due to a police investigation, the district and police announced.

Saddle Brook NJ, the adult female driver of a 4-door Acura TLX sedan was injured on Sunday afternoon, 02/20, when her vehicle crashed into residential structure located in the 300 block of Schepis Avenue, in Saddle Brook. Saddle Brook Fire Department, Saddle Brook Police, Saddle Brook EMS, Saddle Brook OEM, Elmwood Park Fire Department, and Hackensack Fire Department personnel and equipment responded to the incident. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus. A construction sub-code official from the Township of Saddle Brook also responded to the scene. No information was provided by police at the scene as to what caused the driver to lose control and crash her vehicle.

Hackensack NJ, on Saturday January 22 , Hackensack Fire Department had all hands operating in the area of 2nd and Atlantic Street for a major gas leak. PSE&G was also on scene trying to find the source. Multiple buildings being checked for gas odor. The fire department received the all clear while PSEG continued it’s investigation . No injuries were reported .
