Ridgewood NJ, I wrote this back in 2018. The discussion is still relevant. Local issues impact us directly. We need to focus on them as top priority. That can be best done in spring.
Vote NO to November election consolidation. The vote is way back in your ballot on page 3. In November, all local issues get placed way in the back and many are forgotten.
Upper Saddle River NJ, Once upon a time in a bucolic community called Upper and Saddle River there was pristinely clean Pleasant Brook meandering among high end properties of circa 200 families that found recluse from the city and noisy suburb. Pleasant Brook is not any just any brook. This historic brook is also a tertiary water tributary that feeds the waters to Saddle River. The community called Saddle River organized under joint 07458 zip code was one of the most affluent communities in the union. It all started to go down the hill in 2017……(tbc.)

Upper Saddle River NJ, Assemblywomen Holly Schepisi on the New Jersey’s paper bag ban , ” Yesterday New Jersey voted to ban PAPER BAGS. No one, including the sponsor of the bill, could explain why we are the ONLY State in the nation to ban recyclable paper bags other than “we are the most environmentally progressive State.” If that statement was true and if we truly wanted to stop environmental harm in this State why have the legislators and the Governor refused to move forward any legislation that would stop the massive overdevelopment taking place in each of our communities?”
Thank you attending last night’s Mayor and Council Special Meeting, and more importantly, for standing united with Mayor Mario Kranjac, Councilmen William Woo and Ramon Ferro, who along with you have consistently stood strong against building residential high-density units at 800 Sylvan Avenue. The number of attendees coupled with your voice of objection spoke volumes, and we asked that WE diligently remain ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS STRONG!
Ridgewood NJ, since 1927 Village moms and dads have complained about inadequate parking in Ridgewood’s central business district . In the late 1960’s parking meters were added to the CBD to pay for a future parking garage , the chance was misplaced . Plans were drawn up over and over and finally after much debate in early September of 2019 the Village Council pushed forward with the Hudson Garage . Progress came quickly ,but in March of 2019 COVID19 struck , wiping out the demand for commuter spaces . then restaurants were shut down leaving the Village with a great white parking garage elephant . While things have started to return to some semblance of normal with outdoor dinning ,now partial indoor dinning . Al Gore’s internet continues to steal retail sales ,restaurants are struggling to survive and commuters may never return . At lest the massive high density housing projects will now have access to more parking .
By Frank Pallotta GOP Congressional Candidate for District 5
“As I have traveled the District these past 18 months, I’ve heard from a number of residents eager to speak openly about a wide variety of issues. They have also been willing to offer both real insight and practical solutions.
Regardless of county or town, there is one matter that consistently comes up. The High-density housing mandates that are being forced upon our State by predatory developers and the extremist wing of the Democrat party are ruining small and large towns across New Jersey – all under the guise of “Affordable Housing”. “
Ridgewood NJ, resident Steve Kim posted the following comment on Facebook, “Many of you remember how painful it was when Ahronson, Hauck and Pucciarelli gave away the soul of Ridgewood to the developers. If you need a reminder, just drive around downtown. Soon enough school enrollment will exhibit the net effect. That all started with what seemed innocuous at first. One Vote is a second coming attempt to get the better of the residents, and to realize the vision the original group pined for. You don’t have to believe me. I do urge you to do a careful inspection of what is happening before permanently signing away your rights. There is more to this than meets the eye.”
“That’s just the point. Residents who moved to Ridgewood for the small-town feel and great schools pay a price. It’s called property taxes and incredibly high home prices. These residents work hard to get here and live here.
Having affordable housing shoved down our throats because of “privilege” is the biggest con of all time. The ones making money are the lawyers and developers. I want to live in Alpine and send my kids to private school. But I can’t. That’s life, but don’t tell me to move if I don’t like it. I worked my ass off to get here and If I wanted to live in high-density housing areas, I would have moved to Park Ridge.”
“I passed by Broad St last night. The garage is HUGE. This garage reminds me of the monsters they have built in Yonkers and other areas in Westchester County. Even half the size would have been more than sufficient. The apartment complex is more than huge. Ugly sh!t all around. And it is just a start. They should rename Broad St to Broad Ave.
This downtown is not my downtown anymore. I will stay out of it.”
Ridgewood NJ, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson today announced the Department will ultimately terminate the Obama Administration’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) regulation issued in 2015, which proved to be complicated, costly, and ineffective— so much so that Secretary Carson essentially removed its burden on communities by suspending the regulation’s 92 question grading tool in January 2018.
