Ridgewood NJ, the Village of Ridgewood has entered the final round of leaf pickups starting on Monday, December 2nd. Thanks to our crews working 10 hours a day, six days a week, approximately 80 percent of the leaves in the Village have been collected.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Steve Kim has shared thoughtful suggestions to address the challenges of leaf pick-up in the Village. His proposed solution aims to tackle two key issues:
Timing: Synchronizing when residents put leaves out with the actual pick-up schedule.
Efficiency: Enhancing the pace and effectiveness of the leaf collection process.
Ridgewood NJ, the 2024 Leaf Collection Program begins this week. This flyer has been sent out to all Ridgewood residents outlining the dates when leaves should be placed curbside. Please keep mind these dates are leaf placement dates and leaf collection will occur in each area AFTER the last date listed in the window.
Ridgewood NJ, the annual leaf collection for the Village of Ridgewood is underway , Village crews began leaf collection on October 17th and finish up on December 11th.
Ridgewood NJ, All residents have received a yellow postcard with the leaf collection program requirements. The leaf collection areas are based on yardwaste areas (A-D), with certain exceptions listed for Area D, during leaf season only. If you don’t know your yardwaste area, please go to the Village website, www.ridgewoodnj.net, and click on the “My Services Lookup” and put in your address. You will then see the Leaf Collection area for your address.
Ridgewood NJ, Yard Waste refers to grass clippings, plant trimmings, branches, twigs, and leaves.
The yard waste collection program begins on April 15th. Follow the collection schedule for your property, as contained in the annual printed Green Guide, on the Recycle Coach mobile application, on the Village website, and in the printed Village calendar.
” Leaves have been falling for thousands of years why is it such a pain in the ass in the village. We just don’t understand this. Many years ago we had no problem why is it a problem in the past few years is it manpower, equipment issues, or is it management organization experience the problem which is it. Can anyone answer?”
“Here come the whiners. Just read the G*d damn card and check the Village website to see when you should but your leaves OUT. They will be picked up sometime AFTER those dates. If you feel you must, snap a quick picture of your street leaf pile with your camera phone. That way if you get a ticket, you can show proof that you didnt’t put out leaves after pick up. You can send your photo to Susan who will refer it to the Village Manager to be taken care of, if possible.
Or better yet, do what I do, bring them to the recycling center. I’m 60 years old and have 1/2 acres with tons of trees and I manage it by myself.
I’ve been here 30+ years and I’ve NEVER had a problem with leaf pick-up. NEVER. And it never ceases to amaze me that we have a fairly educated adult population but they seemingly cannot read (at least not when it’s inconvenient for them.”
Ridgewood NJ, Leaf collection has been completed in all areas. If you still have leaves which you wish to dispose of, you may bag your leaves in paper biodegradable bags and place them curbside (not in the street). Once you bag your leaves, please call the Street Division at (201) 670-5585, and give them your address. The bags of leaves will be picked up through the month of January.
You may also bring leaves to the Recycling Center. The hours of operation at the Recycling Center are Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

Can we get the landscaper fees reimbursed when the town does not come close to meeting their own published schedules? Weather events happen, build some contingency in the schedule or a recovery plan. This is not rocket science.
The town missing dates is ignored, if a resident does it they get a hefty fine. Town missing dates requires added resident efforts and or landscaper costs. It also creates a driving hazard for extended periods of time
For us, this is our last winter, Ridgewood has beat us at every level from leaves to parking fees, to obscene school costs, and just amateurs running the programs that are supposed to serve the residents. Too bad
“My being conscientious about not placing leaves in street until placement day does not go unpunished.
On my block area A in front of Benjamin Franklin Middle School everyone has put their leaves out before the next placement date which is Nov. 23. Leaves blow in front of my driveway making a big mess.
