“I don’t understand why Fauci’s face needs to be displayed everywhere like this guy is some kind of a Messiah. What makes him such a genius? Don’t we have other people with experience who could do this job? It is Trump who picks people like Fauci and then through idiocies he speaks makes these people look good and more important than they really are. Fauci needs to disappear for the comment about masks a couple of months ago. That comment alone could be responsible for many infections and deaths. And the excuse he is using is just insulting. He lost that little respect I had for him.”
“Classic bureaucratic strategy. Pick services to shut down that have maximum impact and cause maximum distress to the public. Same strategy was used during government “shutdowns” when they closed parks to inflict as much pain as possible.
When this clown proposes a meaningful plan for coping with the revenue shortfall, then maybe start to pay attention.”
Ridgewood NJ, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease expert, told CNBC on Friday that extended lockdowns could cause “irreparable” harm and worse health outcomes. Fauci went on,
“We can’t stay locked down for such a considerable period of time that you might do irreparable damage and have unintended consequences, including consequences for health,”
This was followed by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin ,who told the Senate earlier this week that there was a risk of “permanent damage” to the economy if states kept strict restrictions in place.
RAMSEY NJ, Frank Pallotta, Republican candidate for New Jersey’s Fifth Congressional District, offered praise of the New Jersey Republican Party’s lawsuit against Governor Phil Murphy. The lawsuit comes as Murphy faces a crisis of leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. From long-term care facility deaths approaching 6,000 to an unemployment rate that has soared to 15%, it is clear that in comparing New Jersey to other states that these failures rest squarely on the shoulders of Phil Murphy and his gross incompetence in managing our state through this crisis. On the eve of Memorial Day Weekend, in particular, we should be ashamed of the fact that COVID-19 was allowed to spread unchecked—thanks to the policies of Governor Murphy—at the state-run New Jersey Veterans Home, creating one of the deadliest epicenter for the virus in the state.
TRENTON NJ, The Department of the Treasury delivered a budget update to the Legislature today, providing a detailed revenue report that illustrates the devastating impact COVID-19 has had on New Jersey’s finances and laying out plans to close the looming gap for the remainder of the extended fiscal year through a series of deep cuts and spending deferrals.
A report on the financial condition of the State budget for both Fiscal Years 2020 and 2021 was required pursuant to the COVID-19 Fiscal Mitigation Act (P.L.2020, c.19), which extended the end of the state’s fiscal year from the traditional date of June 30 to September 30, and also extended various tax filing and payment deadlines from April 15 to July 15.
Ridgewood NJ, the Murphy’s administration announced on Thursday policy changes that would allow New Jersey government workers to take voluntary furloughs to avert layoffs as state tax collections plummet.
Facing a $10 billion budget shortfall , the Governor has warned of “historic” layoffs of public workers at all levels of government if the state does not borrow big sums or receive more aid from the federal government.
TRENTON NJ, The negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on New Jersey’s economy resulted in a record number of monthly job losses and widespread unemployment in April. The mandatory shut down of business activities and stay at home orders to prevent the spread of the virus contributed to total nonfarm employment plummeting by 757,700 jobs in April, while the state’s unemployment rate soared to 15.3 percent, according to estimates released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Both the private (-750,100) and public (-7,600) sectors of the state’s economy recorded losses. The decrease in nonfarm payrolls and the increase in the unemployment rate both represent record-setting monthly shifts for the state.
Trenton NJ, On behalf of shuttered employers and some 1.1 million unemployed workers from around New Jersey, Chairman Doug Steinhardt and the NJGOP have joined forces with a group of small business owners and filed a lawsuit against Governor Phil Murphy and his Administration. Plaintiffs’ claims challenge the Governor for creating arbitrary and capricious classes of employers and employees and enacting and enforcing unconstitutional executive orders that deny millions of New Jerseyans equal protection under the law.
Ridgewood NJ, According to a recent letter from RHS Principal Tom Gorman, the school district has planned a graduation for the Class of 2020 that will take place at RHS.
The event, which all seniors are expected to attend, would take place on to-be-determined days between June 8-12. Seniors, following the rules of social distancing, will be asked to dress in graduation gowns and tuxedos. Parents or guardians will be asked to drive them to the school at pre-assigned times, where each senior will walk along the front lawn, have their name read, take a picture in front of the school with their immediate family, and return to their car.
Will people outside of immediate family members gather within line of sight to RHS in order to witness seniors dressed in gowns and tuxedos walk across the school’s front lawn on June 8-12, thus violating the Gov.’s ‘Stay at Home’ Order?
New York NY, according to New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer ,more than 900,000 working New York City residents or one in five working New Yorkers will have lost their jobs by the end of June.
Trenton NJ, The Labor Department has distributed $1 billion in unemployment benefits since the COVID-19 pandemic began in mid-March.
For the second week in a row, the number of new weekly claims hovered around 140,000 after two weeks in which the weekly volume of claims topped 200,000.
How have we gotten to a point where a man asking for directions to a school triggers 8 cops and a lock down? It was a grandfather asking for directions. I am glad the police responded but it seems pretty extreme to bring him in for questioning instead of just figuring out that he was a grandfather and then giving him directions to the school

Waldwick NJ, A threatening message found written on a bathroom wall at the Waldwick Middle School-High School triggered a response from several northwest Bergen County police departments on Thursday morning, 01/14. Personnel from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office also responded. The school was completely locked down while a search of the entire facility was conducted. No immediate threat was located. Anxious parents waited outside in the frigid weather for their children to be released from the building.
At approximately 1 p.m. this afternoon, I was informed by Travell School Principal Margaret Leininger that a student had witnessed a male with a gun outside the school building. The Ridgewood Police were immediately notified and on the scene within minutes as the school went into lockdown.
As a preventive measure, due to the proximity of Benjamin Franklin Middle School to Travell, BFMS was also put on lockdown.
The police responded to Travell School and took control, performing a thorough search of the building, grounds and neighborhood. They also viewed the school’s surveillance video and interviewed the student witness. From the surveillance video, the police determined that the person described by the student was a parent picking up his child. The parent was holding a cell phone.
It is important to emphasize that no Travell student or staff member was in danger at any time during this incident.
I am pleased with the response of the principal and staff, and also with the quick and effective response from our administrative team and especially the police. I am also grateful that our students know to come forward when they feel there is a potential problem.
Please be assured that I will always take every appropriate action to protect the safety and well being of our students and staff.
Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Daniel Fishbein, Ed.D.
