Trenton NJ, Senator Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) blasted the Murphy Administration for what may be its very first admission about the actual cost impacts of its colossal Energy Master Plan (EMP).
Trenton NJ, on Nov. 4, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed into law P.L. 2020, c.117, which prohibits the provision or sale of single-use plastic carryout bags and polystyrene foam foodservice products in all stores and food-service businesses statewide. The law also prohibits the provision or sale of single-use paper carryout bags by grocery stores that occupy 2,500 square feet or more. The law required the creation of a vendor clearinghouse to aid businesses in identifying vendors and manufacturers who sell reusable carryout bags allowed by the new law.

Ridgewood NJ, at Wednesday’s Village Council meeting Village Manager Heather Mailander announced that Glenwood Road was reopening going one way from Ridgewood to Ho-Ho-Kus . Glenwood Road hill was closed while the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Transit improved the railroad crossing at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station.

The Ridgewood blog ran a check and found some functions on NJMVC offline , the Office of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, NJDEP, NJDOL and NJDOH all offline at 7:20 am this morning(04/03/21) . Currently there is no information available as to the nature of the problem.

Pleasant Brook is not any just any brook. This historic brook is also a tertiary water tributary that feeds the waters to Saddle River. Ridgewood NJ, Superintendent of Schools Daniel Fishbein, Ed.D. in his latest email commented on the summer facilities projects. Dr. Fishbein said , ” It is a busy summer for the district as we prepare for the reopening of school in September and complete a few facilities projects, including the Orchard School soil remediation, the remediation and replacement of the Gym 3 floor at Ridgewood High School, and the Stevens Field turf replacement. All three projects are underway, and I would like to provide a brief update on their status.”
Ridgewood NJ, We have now received all the state, county, and local permits required to move forward with the soil remediation project at the Orchard School. The only reason for not moving forward earlier was the failed budget. The project was included in the 2020-2021 budget, but we were not permitted to send the purchase order for the project to the contractor until the budget was approved. We now have a budget and can move forward. I anticipate seeing progress on the project no later than July 1, 2020. The Orchard Remediation website has been updated to include all permits and pertinent documentation.
Yesterday, I received a Letter of Health Consultation (LHC) from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) addressing health concerns related to possible exposure from contaminated fill at the Orchard Elementary School. As you may recall, we had been in consultation with the NJDOH to schedule a public meeting; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a public meeting is no longer an option. Ridgewood NJ, During this time, state parks and forests will continue to be open to the public for hiking and other passive recreation. Community health is crucial right now and exercising (walking, hiking, and biking) while observing social distancing practices can help ensure public health.
Ridgewood NJ, in the continuing saga of better late than never, Dr. Fishbein provided an update on the soil remediation project. A letter was sent to the community on February 28, 2020. The district received a second-opinion letter from LAN Associates LSRP Gerrit Visscher stating that they were in agreement with the Remedial Action Workplan that was submitted by WSP and approved by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The necessary soil permits have been submitted, and public bidding will begin in March. Dr. Fishbein contacted the New Jersey Department of Health to again request a date for the public meeting. Ridgewood NJ, Dr. Fishbein presented an update on the Orchard Elementary School soil remediation project. A letter was emailed to the district community on February 14, 2020, prior to the February recess. The Remedial Action Workplan (RAW) was submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), and we received the NJDEP Alternative Remedy Approval. Dr. Fishbein shared that he has continued to make a weekly request to the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) for a date and time for the public meeting, but he was unable to secure a date yesterday. Dr. Fishbein hopes to schedule this meeting as soon as possible. This week, soil permits will be submitted to the Village of Ridgewood, Bergen County, and the NJDEP.
