Reader says This appears to be more of an attempt to ‘plant a flag’ and rub it in everyone’s face, rather than support for tolerance or anything.”

gay flag ridgewood

One reader sums it up perfectly , “There are many like me who do not really care about what people do in their bedrooms. Someone getting gay-married does nothing to my marriage so I couldn’t care less. We work with gay coworkers, have gay friends and really do not give any more thought to someone being gay than we do to someone being straight.

However, I only want the American flag flying on the Village Hall – not a rainbow flag, not a vegan flag, not a muslim flag, not a Black Lives Matter flag, and a Lenape flag and not the Confederate flag.

But it appears that if I as much as mention the same, I am going to be harassed and bullied for being a ‘bigot.’ How I lead my life, how I interact with people, how I do not discriminate at all between someone gay and someone straight in my real life does not matter. I am either screaming out my support for flying the rainbow flag or I am a bigot. I am suddenly no different from the people tossing gays off buildings.

This is nothing by extremism. And it is detrimental to the movement itself. Harassing and publicly bullying people may shut them down but the feelings of resentment will not disappear. This appears to be more of an attempt to ‘plant a flag’ and rub it in everyone’s face, rather than support for tolerance or anything.”

Reader says Funny how Voigt refers to “the mayor’s supporters.” All these people supported Voigt and the Mayor did, too

village Council Elections

Funny how Voigt refers to “the mayor’s supporters.” All these people supported Voigt and the Mayor did, too. She had his sign in her front yard and campaigned for him. Looks like a boatload of people got fooled by him. What a crummy person he turned out to be. So nasty, paranoid, and not doing a single thing he campaigned to do. He was dead set against the garage, now he pushes for it. he was dead set against the nastiness of Arnonsohn and company, now he personifies it. he was dead set against underhanded dealings, now he is in bed with the press. he was an advocate for the people, now he is vilifying the citizens. Doblin doubles down on attacks and character assassinations of Ridgewood Mayor Susan Kundsen

Ridgewood NJ, Doblin doubles down on attacks and character assassinations of Ridgewood Mayor Susan Kundsen . Alfred P. Doblin is the editorial page editor of The Bergen Record. In his latest column he once again praises Councilmen Voigt  and goes on the offensive against the Mayor.  Doblin continues to cling to the silly  fallacy  his editorial led to the flying of the rainbow ie gay pride flag at Ridgewood’s Van Nest square .

In his last piece Doblin took sides against Village voters and taxpayer with the full support of the former and failed politician Mayor Paul Aronsohn . In his latest peice “Doblin: In Ridgewood, speech is free, but not always easy” https://www.northjersey.com/story/opinion/columnists/alfred-doblin/2017/05/28/doblin-ridgewood-speech-free-but-not-always-pleasant/349657001/ Doblin continues to endorse the grotesque and disrespectful behavior of both the Aronsohn regime and Councilmen Voigt . Perhaps he has a women’s issue or perhaps he is in league with politicians and developers looking to urbanize Bergen County . What ever the case once again it bears repeating ; Residents and taxpayers have every right to OPRA politicians emails period and it both offensive and dishonest to suggest otherwise .

We are still waiting to see the photo ops from Mr Doblin visiting Mosques , posting the rainbow flag at their door steps or his editorials looking to limit radical Islam from gaining entrance to the country ,given their known proclivity for KILLING GAYS.  In either case it no surprise to anyone that the Bergen Record would align it self against taxpayers and work in collusion  with people looking to undermine the Democratic process. Ridgewood residents may consider boycotting the Bergen Record until the Village get a full apology form Alfred P. Doblin.

Reader says All roads lead to Aronsohn Controled CRAB

Jeff Voigt Ridgewood Council

file photo by Boyd Loving

Curious- the Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock is harassing the hell out the Ridgewood Village Council/Mayor in requesting the pride flag be flown at our Town Hall. Are they requesting the same from Glen Rock Council/Mayor? What say you Jeff Voigt? Pretty sure this smells of town politics especially when you consider Jeff Voigt is best friends w Hans Lehman who is married to Jan Phillips, Chair of CRAB. Disgusting. They say this isn’t political but it is. CRAB is politicizing this. All roads lead to Aronson-also a member of CRAB.
RESIGN NOW JEFF. BEFORE THE RESIDENTS OF RIDGEWOOD RECALL YOU.

Reader says The appointment of Ms. Sonenfeld was very political in nature

Roberta Sonenfeld

file photo by Boyd Loving

I remember when VM Roberta Sonenfeld advocated for a modest tax increase Ashe at the time was worried about depleting or lowering the emergency funds account. The extremely low tax rates in the past were well below the current rate of inflation. Many feel that this approach was in the long run ,did not make good financial sense. People who were not involved during Paul’s reign will not understand how truly awful he could be to his own colleagues on the bench and to citizens. The appointment of Ms, Sonenfeld was very political in nature. He got a 4th vote for his side when she became VM. The current council got rid of an un needed and not so nice Human Resource appointee saving us tax dollars and our sanity. They appointed a truly qualified individual as VM when they hired Heather Mailander. They are working overboard to address the parking issues and allowing for all opinions except the one from the Financial Committee that addressed the old garage design! I don’t expect that I will agree with anyone all the time but it sure is nice when you’re elected officials are at least nice people!

Reader says Roberta’s Letter is part of a much larger scheme to discredit Mayor Susan Knudsen

Roberta is, was and will always be Paul Aronsohn’s puppet. This move is part of a much larger scheme to discredit Susan Knudsen. Why? Because they are gearing up for the next election. The dark side has to win the two opening spots so they can regain the voting block. Jeff Voight is holding their third spot. Salivating for 2018. They have a lot of shady agendas waiting to push through.

You wanted to make the village into your vision of a “Montclair light “. You lost. Now do us all a favor and go home, back to your real home which isn’t 07450

Ridgewood NJ,In honor of National Lineman Appreciation Day, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G), New Jersey’s largest utility, salutes the men and women dedicated to keeping the electricity flowing for their customers every day, in all types of weather conditions. When the public is asked to stay safe at home during and after a storm, linemen and linewomen come to work.

lineman6 theridgewoodblog.net

“I’m always proud, but never surprised, by their commitment to their jobs,” said John Latka, senior vice president of electric and gas operations for PSE&G. “On a blue-sky day, you’ll find our linemen building and maintaining the electric infrastructure that is so critical to powering our lives. During and after storms, their efforts are nothing less than heroic. They work 16-hour shifts until every last customer is restored.”

PSE&G has some 600 linemen and linewomen who play a vital role in ensuring that customers have the best-in-class service that they expect and deserve. Behind the scenes, around the clock and 365 days a year, linemen are always ready and available. And when another utility needs help with storm preparation or restoration, PSE&G lineworkers heed the call for help.

To participate in honoring line workers and their families, use the hashtag #thankalineman on social media.

Reader mostly agree The settlement isn’t designed to address low income housing availability. It is designed as a club developers can hold over the heads of affluent communities

Paul_Aronsohn_dunking_theridgewoodblog

Seven low income housing units are planned for the Chestnut Avenue development that was just approved. How the heck does Ridgewood make any sort of real dent in its preposterous court-imposed low income housing deficit, seven units at a time?

Judicial fiat in any area of life over a time span measured in decades is utter lunacy. In this case it constitutes a naked denial to New Jersey citizens of their right under the U.S. Constitution to a republican (small ‘r’) form of government. The Municipal Law course at Rutgers Newark offered at the turn of the millenium featured a hands-upturned, shoulders-shrugged admission of all of the above by the part-time prof and active municipal law practitioner (who, of course, supported the system despite its unconstitutionality, but why? Because the prof was a reliablly progressive statist drone who agreed with the POLICY!).

The issue of affordable housing is based on a NJ Supreme Court decision over 10 years ago that requires EVERY municipality in the state to provide affordable housing in their community. The towns then essentially passed that burden along to developers who wished to build new housing units in their community by requiring that a percentage of the new units be dedicated to affordable housing. Nonetheless the legal obligation to provide affordable housing ultimately rests with the municipality and not developers..

It doesn’t. The way the ‘settlement’ has been structured, it never will. The settlement isn’t designed to address low income housing availability. It is designed as a club developers can hold over the heads of affluent communities. No prizes for guessing who the driving force behind the settlement was.

If they REALLY cared about affordable housing, they would insist that developers build 100% affordable housing, instead of giving ‘credit’ for a few units in a giant multifamily building. But there the $$$$$ are just not there for developing pure affordable housing, you see!

The part I can’t understand is that to get the seven we have to get a lot more of the “non-low-income” kind, thereby increasing the proportion of those. At that rate, the more affordable units we build, the farther behind we’ll get. By the way, Aronsohn promised the disabled community that he would make sure appropriate housing became available. Why isn’t his name invoked when complaints are made that Ridgewood needs this? No–instead, he’s thanked.

That was the fallacy and lunacy of the Mayor Arohnson approach – – the last council approved close to 400 new family units downtown with only a small percentage addressing our coah requirements. But, the new council does not seem any more intent on doing what we need to do in a rationale manner. Now we have these new units going forward, our schools and other village services will be innundated with new people and we still have the problem we had before — where do we put hundreds of new coah units??

Supreme Court refuses to dismiss Menendez corruption charges

The Supreme Court has rejected Sen. Bob Menendez’s attempt to throw out the bribery and corruption charges against him, setting the stage for a trial for the New Jersey Democrat this fall.

With Monday’s announcement, Menendez can no longer block the proceedings against him from moving forward, a major setback for his efforts to avoid criminal trial.

Abbe Lowell, Menendez’s lead defense attorney, said the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear the appeal was “disappointing,” but still said Menendez will be “vindicated when all the facts are heard at trial.”

“It’s disappointing that the Supreme Court did not take this opportunity to set a clear, bright line of the separation of powers to ensure that Congress remains an independent and co-equal branch of government, free of interference and retribution from the executive as the Framers intended,” Lowell said in a statement. “While the senator always understood it is rare that the Supreme Court hears any case before trial, given the gravity of the Constitutional issues raised, he believed it was important to try.”

Reader says Arohnson sold the Village of Ridgewood out to the developers

3 amigos in action Ridgewood NJ

Those who attended the hearings could easily reach the opinion that Arohnson sold the Village out to the developers. He pushed for a a formula where the Village allowed land speculators and developers to build 85 regular market units for every 15 coah compliant units. Do the math – – under the Aronson Plan, if the Village was ordered by the Courts to build 150 units, then the developers would be allowed to build 1000 apartments in town. And because the Village may need to build as many as 500 coah units (or even 1,000 according to some attorneys) then under the Arohnson formula, the town would have to let the developers build 5,000 to 10,000 units in total. Think about it, that’s 5,000 to 10,000 new families moving into town. The developers were licking their chops over the stupidity of the Aronson formula and the opportunity to start to apply it to properties throughout the town.

The new council quickly moved to kill some of the enabling legislation behind the Aronson plan. But, frankly, its not clear they have done enough to prevent developers from continuing to buy up property and make the argument that they need to build, build, build in order to enable Ridgewood to meet its coah requirements. Our Council needs to take bold action to meet coah requirements while not allowing developers to re-make the Village.

A lot needs to be done and the process needs to be started quickly. The Council cannot ignore this issue. They need to starting acting now.

Reader asks Why all of a sudden this hysteria of pushing for affordable housing. Whose agenda is this?

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco

If you voted for Obama or any Democrat in New Jersey it is your Agenda

This is such bullshit. Why all of a sudden this hysteria of pushing for affordable housing. Whose agenda is this? Why stuff nice towns and villages with buildings that are out of character? Why force villages that people have worked very hard to build and live in to bring low income families who will certainly affect the quality of life? Why urbanize beautiful places that residents are so proud of and care so much about ? This will destroy these places and will provide no value to anyone. If you want affordable housing build in places that are already messed up such Hackensack, Rutheford etc. I am sure I am not the only who is stressed out about this nonsense.

Ridgewood 3 amigos

Very important not to assume they are truly gone. They still have much skin in the game and want more. Every person appointed to a committee/board/etc. as a future source of information/votes should be dismissed, as should every preexisting staff member drawn to their questionable glow and continuing to feed them information and work on their behalf (grants for construction, etc.). Every committee or other group created solely to further Aronsohn’s post council career should be eliminated pronto, starting with the super-bogus Financial Advisory Committee.

The Ridgewood Library Board of Trustees Needs an Update

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, it has been pointed out by some readers that unless the published list of  Ridgewood Library Trustees is incorrectly stated on their website listing the ex-mayor and one of his appointees on the Library Board  as the current mayor .

Last time we checked there was a new mayor in the Village of Ridgewood , and she seemed eminently qualified to represent the residents of the Village.

Removing the Ex-mayor and his appointee and adding the current mayor with her appointee would help restore the public’s confidence as to the direction of the Library . The continued association with the ex-mayor only leads one to conclude for many residents that something nefarious is going on.

Reader says Ridgewood League of Women Voters has been turned into mouthpiece for Paul Aronsohn

3 amigos

Anne is making some serious mistakes and she’s been brainwashed by her blond “friend”. You know, the one who does alllll the bidding for the dark side and causes massive trouble no matter what organization she’s involved with…? Name drops at every turn and isn’t actually suave enough to DO anything herself.
Well, Anne has managed to take the league of women voters and turn it in to a mouthpiece for Paul in a matter of the less than half a year she’s been in control. Bye bye Anne.
