Ridgewood NJ, it appears high winds were the culprit , according to the Ridgewood Police Department, West Glen Avenue was closed between Heights and Hillcrest due to a utility emergency which caused power outages in the area. PSE&G was on scene attempting to restore power.

Glen Rock NJ , on Friday September 9th at 2:33 PM ,Glen Rock Police Patrols, along with Glen Rock firefighters, were dispatched to a report of a brush fire caused by downed utility wires on the 200 block of Elmwood Avenue. Upon arrival, they found that the fire was out, however, damages were caused to a residence when a delivery truck struck the power lines and pulled them from the structure of the home. The unidentified truck had left the area prior to the response of police and fire personnel. The scene was rendered safe and turned over to PSE&G.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Department remind residents that the PSE&G gas main replacement project has moved to N.Monroe street by W.Glen Avenue and will proceed south towards W.Ridgewood Ave over the next several weeks. Expect delays in the area with detours in place during the daytime and plan a alternate route.

Twp. of Washington NJ, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was injured during a Friday morning, 05/06, rollover crash in the 1900 block of East Glen Avenue in Washington Township. The Toyota hit a utility pole just prior to flipping on its left side, damaging a back up battery installation owned by a local cable TV/internet provider. The vehicle’s driver sustained a non-life threatening injury, and was taken by a Washington Township ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Washington Township Police, Washington Township Fire Department, and Paramus Fire Engine Company #3 personnel and equipment also responded to the incident. The rolled over Toyota was righted by a flatbed tow truck and removed from the scene. A PSE&G troubleshooter determined that the utility pole had not been compromised by the hit.

Ridgewood NJ, in a press release PSE&G says they are prepared for the high winds, heavy rain and light snow forecast to begin after midnight through Sunday morning, particularly in northern areas of New Jersey. Sustained winds of 30 to 35 mph are expected with possible gusts up to 50 mph. These conditions may cause tree limbs to break and pull down wires, causing outages.

Hackensack NJ, City of Hackensack Fire Department 3rd platoon responded to several cars on fire on Arcadia Road due to a power line down. Fire Companies had to wait for the arrival of PSEG to secure power before extinguishing the cars on fire. No damage reported to any buildings. Time of incident 1:15 am on Thursday the 18th with no reported injuries.

Hackensack NJ, on Saturday January 22 , Hackensack Fire Department had all hands operating in the area of 2nd and Atlantic Street for a major gas leak. PSE&G was also on scene trying to find the source. Multiple buildings being checked for gas odor. The fire department received the all clear while PSEG continued it’s investigation . No injuries were reported .
