Linwood Ave at Washington Township Boarder Shut Down due to Fallen Tree Monday

Trenton NJ, Board of Public Utilities President Joseph Fiordaliso at Wednesday’s post Isaias press conference : Thank you, Governor. Just as a matter of some comparison here, as the Governor mentioned, at the peak, we had 1.4 million people approximately without power, or customers. Sandy, Super Storm Sandy, at its peak, we had 1.7 million customers without power. Here’s a storm that just came through the entire state of New Jersey thank goodness at a more rapid pace than Sandy, but we still had devastating damage. And New Jersey was probably one of the hardest hit states from this particular storm. We are now down to, as the Governor mentioned, approximately 977,000 people without power. So we have – excuse me – almost 500,000 people who have been restored. Regionally, 3.5 million were without power in 14 states. New Jersey got literally whacked, and it really left its mark throughout the entire state. If you were to ask me what region of New Jersey was hit the hardest, I would have difficulty explaining or recognizing any particular area. The entire state was ravaged by this quick-moving storm.

Ridgewood NJ, Public Service Electric & Gas, New Jersey’s largest utility, is more committed than ever to the health and safety of its customers. A heightened sense of uncertainty throughout the world is emboldening phone scammers who impersonate utility employees and PSE&G urges customers to know the facts and protect themselves.
“In times like these, every challenge our households face is magnified,” said Fred Daum, executive director, PSE&G Customer Operations. “The heightened anxiety we’re feeling is perfect for scammers, whose preferred tactic is to make people panic at the thought of getting their power shut off. That’s why it’s important for people to know that, during this crisis, PSE&G is not shutting off power for non-payment due to financial burdens.”

Trenton NJ, GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Jack Ciattarelli  trashes Gov. Murphy’s Energy Master Plan; “Not only is the Governor’s energy master plan unrealistic, but like his other policy proposals, it will drive up costs on families, retirees and small businesses, and worsen a state economy that is already dead last or next to last in job growth, wage growth and fiscal health.
Calling for the complete phase out affordable natural gas – which heats about 75% of New Jersey homes – is a disaster. Where is the Governor going to find the money for his grandiose plan to force conversion of furnaces, hot water heaters, stoves, and dryers to electric? I’ll tell you where – New Jersey taxpayers who are already being crushed.

TRENTON NJ,  The energy master plan announced by Gov. Phil Murphy today calls for eliminating the state’s reliance on natural gas. Assemblyman Jay Webber said the plan is irresponsible and called on the Legislature to stop it from moving forward.“The governor’s plan would effectively end natural gas service in New Jersey; but, New Jerseyans need natural gas, which is an abundant, affordable, clean and reliable energy source,” said Webber (R-Morris). “Not only are 75 percent of our homes and businesses heated with natural gas, but about 50 percent of our electricity is generated from it. Natural gas also is critical as a raw material for manufacturing.”
