Ridgewood Police are, by and large, very good. The question that was put to us was, why does NJ have more cops per capita than other states? Answer – unions. Unions exist to make sure that the least qualified are guaranteed work and paid as well as the most qualified. Additionally, the union pension system is hopelessly unsustainable and when it finally breaks things will be ugly for everyone – those of us that pay for it and union members that collect it. The sooner we address this, the less bad it will be.

Ridgewood NJ, Elementary school principals are getting ready for full-day Kindergarten this fall. The goal is to expand the day so that the children can have better time to apply what they are learning rather add more to the curriculum. There will be continuing professional development on May 12 for all teachers, including the newly hired, and six teachers will go to the Paramus Parkway School to observe the program there. Furnishings and libraries are also being carefully researched. Click here for the presentation.
Ongoing registration for fall entrance to Kindergarten and First Grade continues at the Ridgewood Public Schools. Early registration helps ensure that principals and staff have quality time for planning for September.

Ridgewood NJ, readers are questioning why has the Ridgewood Financial Advisory Committee still not met commonly accepted standards used throughout the world?
While the rumor and innuendo spending in an attempt to undermine the Mayor and the current council are being sprinkled around town, the fact is the Ridgewood Financial Advisory Committee continues not to meet the most minimum commonly excepted practices in the Finance and accounting industries.
This taints any advice given by the committee and could open the Village to a whole host of law suits.
Once again in order for the Financial Advisory Committee to be an effective part of the Village governance the following criteria have to be met:
Publish clear and realistic by-laws Post agenda’s of all meetings Post minutes of all meetings promptly All members must sign Financial disclosure forms All members must sign NDA’s or non-disclosure forms
These are professional standards that are used and commonly accepted everywhere in the world.

Ridgewood NJ, Entering our 73rd year, Dads’ Night puts on an annual fundraising show for the Ridgewood Somerville/
Hawes Elementary Schools and general public. Our show is the result of a massive effort from over 280 dads
who donate their time and “talents”.
Our dads are responsible for all aspects of the production of the show, from script writing and making costumes to playing all the parts, providing all the music and of course the hilarious acting! Obviously, it has had some success because it’s been here for 73 years. But the show is just the beginning, Dads’ Night is a year-round organization that is very involved with our community from coat, turkey and blood drives to parent educational speakers and outreach programs just to mention a few.
The funds we raise are divided out between the two elementary schools funding various projects that the schools’ budget may not accommodate. We have recently installed chrome books in classrooms, outdoor community classrooms, eco-friendly water fountains and eco-center. Additionally, monies from the funds raised allow us to help support local and national charitable efforts too.
Our purpose is to give back something a little extra to our children’s learning and educational experiences by following our slogan “Family. Friends. Community.” Our children are our future and ultimately our legacy.

“Unfortunately in a Democracy, some suffer because of the decisions of the majority.” Not always true, in 2010 many of my neighbors and the majority voted No, and Ridgewood taxpayers got screwed when they defeated the $84.9 million school budget.
Votes: 2,639 NO,,, 2,537 Yes…It was rejected by the voters, but the council ONLY CUT a measly $100,000 from the $84.9 Million budget. You wonder why bother to vote on BOE budgets when your vote don’t count anyway. ?

Oh, let’s build a massive parking garage, build 4 or 5 oversized apartment buildings in town, build a water park for Graydon, build a performing arts theater, renovate the library, did I miss anything else?
Ridgewood Nj, It is literally freezing outside today and Ridgewood Crew is having their annual row-a-thon in Van Neste Square from 10-3. Brrrrr….If you happen to be in town, please stop by to give these kids a boost and maybe buy a few things from the bake sale. This will keep their spirits up and it will help them raise desperately needed cash for their team.
Thanks SO much and spread the word
Ridgewood NJ, In what has seemingly become an all too common occurrence, an illegally parked vehicle that was blocking a driveway entrance on North Walnut Street, leading to a private parking lot behind 119-133 East Ridgewood Avenue, was towed from the scene under police guard after having been issued multiple parking violation summonses. Individuals waiting to enter/leave the parking lot were inconvenienced, the vehicle’s owner must now deal with the expense and inconvenience of recovering his/her vehicle (and paying the associated parking fines), and a police officer was tied up during the vehicle impound process.
This and similar incidents that have occurred on Cottage Place, Oak Street, and Chestnut Street, may have all been prevented. However, for some unknown/inexpiable reason, Ridgewood Village Engineer Christoper Rutishauser has steadfastly refused to have yellow hash marked “parking control” boxes painted on the pavement in front of private driveway entrances such as the one on North Walnut Street. Nearby Ho-Ho-Kus has several of these simple and inexpensive “parking control” schemes in use within their business district along Sheridan Avenue (see attached photos).
Just what is Mr. Rutishauser’s objection to such an idea? Is it no good only because he didn’t think of it?
Ridgewood NJ, One (1) victim of a Friday afternoon (03/03 ) two (2) vehicle crash at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Bellair Road in Ridgewood was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance. The victim is reported to have sustained non-life threatening injuries when a Chevrolet Equinox apparently broadsided a Honda Pilot. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. A crash related fluid spill was attended to by Ridgewood FD personnel. A Glen Rock PD Uniformed Patrol Division supervisor assisted at the scene with language interpretation. There was no word as to whether Ridgewood PD officers issued any summonses in connection with the incident.

This year, PropertyShark took a closer look at the market and round up the most expensive zip codes in New Jersey.
The top three zip codes on our list will come as no surprise; the most expensive zip code on our list is occupied by Alpine’s 07620. with the medium price of $2,050,000. The methodology: In order to determine which were the most expensive ZIP codes in New Jersey, PropertyShark looked at all residential transactions closed in 2016, taking into account condo, co-op, single- and two-family homes. All package deals were excluded.
