Garbage Truck Fire in Ridgewood Quickly Contained by Firefighters

Ridgewood NJ, a routine garbage collection turned hazardous early Wednesday morning when smoke began billowing from the rear of a Village of Ridgewood sanitation truck. In response, the driver dumped the truck’s contents into an empty parking lot to prevent further danger.

Ridgewood NJ, a serious crash on South Maple Avenue in Ridgewood late Tuesday morning (February 11) resulted in emergency responders administering Narcan to the driver of a blue Mercedes-Benz sedan after the vehicle collided head-on with at least two utility poles. South Maple Avenue was closed near Stillwell Place due to the accident.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Firefighters are ready for action . The plow is on the pickup truck! With the possibility of a another snow evens this week starting with Tuesday, Ridgewood Professional Firefighters FMBA Local 47 are getting prepared. The plow is not only used to keep our aprons and lots clear at two firehouses, but the truck can head out on emergency calls ahead of the apparatuses to clear the path. Remember to clear your hydrants, and your walkways in case of emergency!

The Remains of Ridgefield Park Police Officer Steven Fernandez Escorted Down Route 17 in Ridgewood on Tuesday Afternoon

Ridgefield Park NJ, the remains of Steven Fernandez, a Ridgefield Park police officer, are escorted down Route 17 in Ridgewood on Tuesday afternoon, 02/04, en route to a funeral home in Ridgefield Park.  Officer Fernandez died on Saturday, 02/01, as a result of injuries he sustained in a tragic snowmobile accident that took place near Saranac Lake, New York. Firefighters and police officers from Ridgewood, along with paramedics and EMTs from The Valley Hospital, stood at attention on the shoulder of Route 17 as the three (3) minute long funeral procession passed.

Remediation and Tank Removal Makes Progress at the Town Garage Site in Ridgewood and I Smell Gas

Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Mayor Paul Vagianos the Town Garage property which “has been sitting dormant – and not very attractive – in our beloved downtown since about 2007. This past October the Village took ownership of the property, and a couple of weeks ago the building was demolished. We’ve begun remediation of the site – at the expense of the prior owner – which will be followed by two years of required environmental testing.”

Contractor Injured in Scaffold Fall During Home Renovation in Ridgewood
