Ridgewood NJ, Jamboree 2023 was a roaring success! The kind of success you only see in….Fairy Tales! A big thank you to the cast and crew, directors, producers, attendees, and volunteers who spent countless hours rehearsing and performing. This year’s grand total? Our Ridgewood Board of Education members were in attendance to applaud the more than $228,000 raised!

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood resident Boyd Loving caught some pics of blockage in Ho-Ho-Kus Brook near Spring Avenue that may be contributing to flooding at Ridgewood High School. Before we blame every thing on “Climate Change”, in New Jersey, the responsibility of cleaning debris from clogged waterways can vary depending on the location and type of waterway. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, “the property owner of the land under the river or stream is responsible for debris removal after a storm event.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School sophomore Kamila Castro has been selected as the North Jersey Wrestler of the Week. Castro knocked off Immaculate Conception state champion Jenna Filieri in the BCWCA semis on Sunday on the way to the 152-pound title. She picked up a 14-7 decision over Paramus’ Emma Mees in the final.

Ridgewood NJ, the world-famous Harlem Wizards took on the Ridgewood A+ team (a.k.a. our talented faculty!). Games started at 6:30pm at Ridgewood High School in front of a sell out crowd with all proceeds to benefit Ridgewood Public Schools.

Ridgewood NJ, Five (5) Ridgewood High School students escaped serious injury when their Nissan Pathfinder crashed head on into a utility pole as it rounded a curve on a narrow street near the high school. The late Friday afternoon, 01/27, crash triggered a massive response by local police, fire, and EMS units. One (1) passenger was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for further evaluation. All others were released at the scene to parents. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Pathfinder from the scene. The pole was deemed unsafe by a PSE&G Electric Division troubleshooter and scheduled for immediate replacement. Ridgewood Police at the scene did not indicate whether any summonses would be issued in connection with the mishap.
