All Village Offices will be closed on December 24 and 25, 2019 in observance of the Christmas holiday!

Ridgewood NJ, All Village Offices will be closed on December 24 & 25, 2019 in observance of the Christmas holiday.  All Village Offices will also be closed on January 1, 2020, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.  All Village Offices will be open on December 23rd, 26th, 27th, 30th, and 31st, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  There will be no garbage or recycling pickup on December 25th and January 1st, and the Recycling Center will also be closed on these days. Please check your Village calendars for more information.

Three Kings and Camels Celebration

Ridgewood NJ, All are invited to gather in the church on Friday, January 3rd at 7pm to await the arrival of the Kings and their camels.
Parents are invited to help their children prepare a letter for the Kings in which the kids ask for a gift they would like to receive from the Kings. There letters will be collected by the Kings and the gift will be left at the child’s house on the Feast of the Epiphany – Sunday, January 5th.

Ridgewood Police Catch the Grinch

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police  have caught the Grinch as you may be seen at Downtown for the Holidays. They decided to drive him around for some Christmas Cheer! Starting at Police Headquarters at Noon Saturday! We will then drive along the following route so meet us along the way!!!

The Grinch made the rounds from the Central Business District to ,Orchard, GW Middle School,Ridge,Willard,Travell,BF Middle School,Glen,Somerville,Hawes,RHS,Police Headquarters

Let’s help the Grinch grow a heart and get in the holiday spirit.

Ridgewood NJ, The celebration of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, will take place on December 22, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. on the corner of Memorial Park at Van Neste Square and East Ridgewood Avenue. Hanukkah begins December 22nd and ends the evening of December 30th.  A candle will be lit on the Menorah each night at sundown.

“I would just hope there’d be a degree of trust. Trust us as a committee and people who have worked with all of your – myself in particular… We’re always open to discussions.”

“The library and High School are grabbing for the brass ring. They have big ideas and big money wish lists. Why does the library “need” this “Reimagine” project? Why does the high school “need” a 1,000 seat Performing Art Center? I know that the developers are selling the downtown as a city with all the amenities.

NJ Transit Ranks Worst in the Nation

Ridgewood NJ, Federal Transit Administration rated NJ Transit  the worst in the nation, racking up the most breakdowns of any transit system during 2018.NJ Transit retook the terrible train “crown” from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, known by locals as the “T” which had the most breakdowns in 2017 and in 2016, according to Federal Transit Administration data released Monday.

VILLAGE OF RIDGEWOOD COUNCIL MEETINGS

Ridgewood NJ, All Village Council meetings are open to the public and there is a time for public comments at both the beginning and end of each meeting.  The Village Council meetings are streamed on the Village website, are broadcast on both Optimum and Verizon on their Public Access Channels, and can also be viewed on YouTube the day following the meeting (click the arrow symbol on the upper right hand corner of the Village website).  The following are the dates for the January Village Council meetings, which are held in the Sydney V. Stoldt, Jr. Court Room on the fourth floor of Village Hall:

January 8, 2020 – 7:30 p.m. – Village Council Work Session
January 15, 2020 – 8:00 p.m. – Village Council Public Meeting
January 29, 2020 – 7:30 p.m. – Village Council Work Session

FINAL LEAF PLACEMENT DATES VILLAGE-WIDE

Ridgewood NJ, The final leaf placement dates throughout the Village are today through December 26, 2019.  No leaves may be placed in the streets after December 26, 2019. 
 

No brush will be collected during leaf season.  In addition, do not place trash, stones, branches, twigs or other yardwaste into the leaf piles.
