Ridgewood NJ, no injuries were reported following a Tuesday morning, 10/03, crash in which a Mazda CX5 slammed into a landscaper’s equipment trailer in the 300 block of Franklin Turnpike, Ridgewood. The Mazda was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer Michael Karcher investigated the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, the Village Manager Keith Kazmark thanked Village personnel who worked diligently on Friday to ensure limited loss due to the storm and flooding. “Our vehicle fleet was relocated, the recycling yard was secured and our Police Department, Fire Department and OEM worked to block flooded roadways and provide support to residents.”
Ridgewood NJ, a driver narrowly escaped injury when his BMW sedan slammed into a utility pole at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Van Dien Avenue, near Ridgewood High School early Monday afternoon, 09/25. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Ridgewood Police responded.
Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood PBA is hosting our second annual Food Truck Festival October 1st 11am -6pm , to raise money for pediatric cancer research via The Golden Lights Foundation. In addition to the food trucks there will be a kids area with games and bounce houses as well as a beer garden. Councilman Wietz has even volunteered to go in the dunk tank at 1pm!
Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police Department their main Police phone line (201-652-3900) is not receiving calls from Verizon landlines. It appears that this is the extent of the problem. All citizens are advised to call 201-670-5519 if they receive an “out of service” message. We are still here! 911 is working properly and can be used for emergency purposes.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Fire/EMS and Central Dispatch responded to a call on September 16th. Upon arrival, responders found a female in cardiac arrest. Immediate life saving measures were taken, providing CPR and using a defibrillator to reestablish a pulse saving the victims life.
Ridgewood NJ, a Mercedes sedan was rear ended by a Jeep on westbound East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood near the Saddle River County Park Wild Duck Pond early Wednesday morning, 09/13. The impact resulted in the Jeep veering off of the roadway and crashing into a box housing communications & electrical equipment. No injuries were reported in the mishap. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Paramus Police assisted Ridgewood Police with traffic control and Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill.
Ridgewood NJ, at least one (1) single family home was evacuated on Gateway Road, Ridgewood late Saturday afternoon, 09/09 when a “hot” primary electric line apparently caught fire after being hit by lightning, fell to the ground, and continued to burn. Ridgewood firefighters became concerned that heat from the fire could ignite an underground gas service line to a nearby home and ordered the family to evacuate it as a precaution. Firefighters were awaiting the arrival of technicians from PSE&G’s separate gas and electric divisions to assist with remediating the situation. Ridgewood Police assisted with traffic and crowd control.
Ridgewood NJ, the Annual Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Car Show will be taking place tomorrow (Friday September 8th) between 4PM and 9PM in our Central Business District. East Ridgewood Avenue will be closed between Maple Ave and Prospect Street. Expect heavy traffic in the immediate area. Plan an alternate route to avoid delays.
Ridgewood NJ, a black colored Acura SUV occupied by an pregnant woman being rushed to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood early Wednesday morning, 09/06, was involved in a collision just minutes away from the hospital on Route 17 northbound at Linwood Avenue. The collision likely triggered birth of the baby, who was transported to the hospital’s emergency room along with mom and dad by the driver of a work van that may have also been involved in the collision. Mother, child, and father were reported to all be doing fine following the harrowing mishap. Ridgewood Police officers responded to the crash scene to retrieve personal items from the crashed Acura and to investigate the crash. The Acura was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Paramus Police assisted with traffic control.
Ridgewood NJ, a missing stop sign may have contributed to a Saturday morning, 08/26, three (3) vehicle T-Bone collision at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Irving Street, Ridgewood in which one (1) driver was injured. Two (2) vehicles, a Lexus SUV and a Ford work van, were heavily damaged and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department/EMS responded to the incident. The injured driver was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with a non-life threatening head injury.

Ridgewood NJ, Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch Public Safety Telecommunicators (PST) took a 9-1-1 call for a 12-month-old baby not breathing, turning blue. She was able to assist the child’s parents with administering CPR over the phone and bringing the baby back to life before Police/ EMS arrived on scene.
Ridgewood NJ, a motorist who returned to his vehicle and found a parking summons affixed to it tracked down the responsible Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent (PEO) on Friday afternoon, 08/18, and dumped a full glass of soda through the open driver’s side window of the agent’s official vehicle. The incident occurred on Chestnut Street in Ridgewood, near East Ridgewood Avenue. A Ridgewood Police Patrol Officer and Patrol Supervisor responded quickly to assist the Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent , but the perpetrator had fled prior to their arrival. A copy of the summons issued will be used to identify & charge the suspect. The Ridgewood Parking Enforcement Agent was uninjured. Clearly someone acted before thinking about the consequences.
