Reader says, ” Ridgewood has ALWAYS been viewed consistently in terms of educational quality, independent of temp or permanent superintendent”

RHS_BEST_theridgewoodblog

“Well Well a 3 to 2 vote not to accept his resignation. Again, the purpose of this process is looking more and more like want I surmised it to be, a shame and a waste of time. The reality is the entire educational system in Ridgewood is caught in a quandary of attempting to maintain an educational status quo while newly elected officials attempt to learn and improve on what came before. Someone that called in tonight mentioned before Mr Fishbein there were 5 temporary superintendents before his 12 year tenure. I have lived in Bergen County for 55 years and Ridgewood has ALWAYS been viewed consistently in terms of educational quality, independent of temp or permanent superintendent. So, Fishbein man up and either officially resign or find the courage to work with the elected officials that the voters of your town selected. I am not a supporter of either approach but to set the record straight, one caller tonight praised Fishbein for quickly acting on all day kindergarten. The fact is that Ridgewood was one of the last Bergen County districts to enact an all day K program. Let alone the sexing scandel and the bulling last year in the high school that never really was properly dealt with. The more I think of it, there is a lot of improvement that the citizens of Ridgewood need to be addressing regarding the schooling of its children.”

“Stacey LoWscalzo has undoubtedly singled out two board members to scapegoat Fishbiens departure. Pointing the blame. It wouldn’t help her narrative to suggest Dan’s ego and need for control created issues with four BOE members. Too obvious the problem is Dan. So yes, let’s not single out the policeman. Better to isolate the two people of color. Racist much, Stacy?”

Ridgewood NJ, The “Facebook Lynch mob” continues to use the same phraseology in dark overtones over and over . The similar wording from so many comments and posters implies a premeditated act and the common phraseology used over and over appears to be a dog whistle with racist overtones.

Ridgewood NJ, The majority of this Facebook fuss about Dr. Daniel Fishbein being booted out seems to be nothing other than a loosely organized lynch mob of privileged white parents who all believe that he was being unfairly treated by the only two (2) non-white members of the Board of Education.

One Village One Vote Question to Eliminate the $115 Million School Budget Vote Will be on the November 3rd ballot

cottage_place_2_theridgewoodblog

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, a reader summed it up best,” Moving the school board election to November would not alter the public’s ability to vote for the best board candidates, which would happen whenever the election was held. It would in fact improve nothing and serve only to remove residents’ ability to approve or disapprove of the proposed budget. Our school budgets have become bizarrely bloated and represent moneys that are not appropriate for the size of the town. We deserve the right to vote for or against them.”

Reader says, Students should always come first

RHS 2017

“Covid-19 is NOT a lethal virus, that is a fact. Lethal viruses do not spread, as they kill their victim, which stops the spread. People are not dying from covid19, they are dying from the one or more, known or unknown underlying diseases they have. It is a fact that children are not dying from covid19. It is okay for them to get the virus. They will not melt. If teachers are afraid to get the virus, for a valid or invalid reason, then they should be given these options:. Resign, retire early, take a leave of absence, go on unemployment or wear a hazmat suit. The teachers can easily be temporarily replaced by young, unemployed certified teacher, which are many, or college graduates. Why do so many teachers make everything about them, rather than about the children? The only reason teachers have their job is because of
the students. Students should always come first. Students need to be in school in person. Virtual school is not the same and is not what our taxes pay for. Lastly, how are young children supposed to do virtual learning at home, when both parents have to go out to work? Most parents are NOT teachers, who have the luxury of staying home just because they are in a strong union, that controls the politrickers. Many teachers are not living in the real world and need to be made to realize that the world does NOT revolve around them.”

Ridgewood Nj, at the Friday August 28th Special Public Meeting of the Ridgewood Board Education meeting the board focused on the reopening of Ridgewood public schools.  Mr. Lembo shared that the Special Public Meeting was scheduled to get more information and to discuss questions pertaining to the reopening plan. Dr. Fishbein and Ms. Poelstra gave a reopening plan update presentation. Dr. Fishbein began by thanking the administrators and teachers for their hard work and creativity in making this reopening possible. A revised 2020-2021 school calendar will be approved at the August 31 Regular Public Meeting. To give teachers an extra day to prepare for the start of school, a Professional Development Day was added on August 31 and removed from October 12. Schools will be closed on October 12 for teachers and students. The district has worked very hard on logistics and operations, and the buildings are ready for the return of students. The Pandemic Response Teams have taken walkthroughs of the buildings, and the response from those teams was very positive. Our reopening plan was submitted to the state, and the three areas for revision (recess, cleaning manual, and technology services) were addressed. The cleaning manual is posted on the district website.

Pandemic “Educational Pods” All the Rage for Ridgewood Parents

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, according to the NYTimes , “Economists, business leaders and labor experts have warned for years that a coming wave of automation and digital technology would upend the work force, destroying some jobs while altering how and where work is done for nearly everyone.

In the past four months, the coronavirus pandemic has transformed some of those predictions into reality. By May, half of Americans were working from home, tethered to their employers via laptops and Wi-Fi, up from 15 percent before the pandemic, according to a recent study.”
