Alert Waldwick Officer Spots Dumpster Fire

Waldwick NJ, according to the Waldwick Volunteer Fire Department , on Thursday  at approximately 10:30 a Waldwick Police officer on patrol on Franklin Turnpike spotted a dumpster on fire where the fire had extended to the structure. He had the Waldwick Fire dispatched to the scene. Chief Mike Ferrara was in command and ordered a two-out engine, with NORCON being activated and received a second alarm equivalent.

Waldwick Police are Investigating A Series of Motor Vehicle Thefts

Waldwick NJ, The Waldwick Police Department is investigating several motor vehicle burglaries that occurred this morning between 2AM and 3AM on the west side of town. As a result three motor vehicles with key fobs left in the vehicles were stolen. All vehicles that were entered were left unlocked. Once again we would like to remind everyone that simply removing your key fob from the car and locking the door will deter criminals from coming to our boro to commit crimes. 3-alarm Fire on Franklin Turnpike Sends Waldwick Firefighter to Valley Hospital

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick Fire department battled at 3-alarm structure fire at 96 Franklin Turnpike, Waldwick on Tuesday afternoon, 10/30. Mutual aid fire, police and EMS services responded from several neighboring communities to assist Waldwick Fire, Waldwick Police, and Waldwick EMS. One (1) firefighter was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital with a non life threatening injury. Traffic on busy Franklin Turnpike in Waldwick was detoured while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Van Slams into Auto Repair Facility on Crescent Avenue in Waldwick

Waldwick NJ, A work van owned by a heating/air conditioning contractor slammed into a gas station/auto repair facility located at 11 Crescent Avenue, Waldwick on Monday morning, 10/15. Waldwick Fire Department and Wyckoff Fire Department personnel worked to stabilize the building after the vehicle was removed by a flatbed tow truck. The extent of injuries to the van’s occupants and/or employees of the facility was unknown. Waldwick Police officers detoured northbound traffic on Crescent Avenue away from the scene while emergency crews worked.

Waldwick NJ, Police from Midland Park, Ridgewood, and Waldwick chased a young black bear through dozens of yards on Thursday morning, 05/24. The bear was finally treed behind home on Evergreen Street in Waldwick where it was last seen by this photographer perched there awaiting the arrival of NJDEP Fish and Wildlife Division personnel.

The bear was resting in a tree near Evergreen and Hemlock in Midland Park. Animal Control arrived at the scene to monitor the situation….

Car Hits Center Divider ,Route 17 southbound near Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus

Ho Ho Kus NJ, No injuries were reported by the adult male driver of a silver colored 4-door BMW sedan after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the center divider of Route 17 southbound near Hollywood Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus on Friday afternoon, 12/29.

Ho-Ho-Kus Police and Fire Department  units responded, with traffic control assistance provided by Waldwick Police. The wrecked vehicle was removed from the highway by a flatbed tow truck. Traffic on Route 17 southbound north of Ho-Ho-Kus was backed up for miles due to the incident.

Waldwick NJ, A Thursday afternoon, 10/26 Waldwick fire that reportedly originated in an outdoor barbecue resulted in one (1) person sustaining minor burns and required the response of Waldwick Fire Department  personnel to extinguish. Minor fire related damage was reported to the exterior of a single family home located on Charles Terrace, Waldwick resultant from the fire. Waldwick EMS transported the burn victim to The Valley Hospital for treatment. Waldwick Police also responded.

Wyckoff NJ, Wyckoff and Waldwick Police report that a Waldwick Police Officer interrupted a suspect committing a burglary to an unlocked vehicle in their Borough.

Wyckoff Police have also experienced this in the past and would like to remind our residents to please remove all valuable items and especially key fobs from your vehicles and to lock your car doors at all times. Locking your vehicles and removing the key fobs is a simple way to deter criminals. It only takes a second to lock the doors. We cannot stress enough the value of our residents remaining alert in their neighborhoods and reporting anything unusual or suspicious to the police, “Hear It! See It! Waldwick NJ, Waldwick PD and EMS responded to multiple 911 telephone calls of a reported motor vehicle crash on Route 17 northbound near East Prospect Street late Friday afternoon, 04/14. Responding units located a 4-door Honda Accord sedan off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle appeared to have struck a tree and a concrete barrier after leaving the travel lanes. The adult male driver was evaluated by Waldwick EMS personnel. It is not known whether he was transported to a hospital. The heavily damaged vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. There was no visible indication that another vehicle was involved in the crash. Ho-Ho-Kus PD units assisted with traffic control.

Waldwick NJ, Waldwick PD, FD, and building department personnel responded to 11 Ridge Street, Waldwick on Saturday afternoon, 01/21, in response to an incident in which a 4-door Saab left the roadway, went down an embankment, and crashed into a single family home. No one in the vehicle, nor any occupant of the home, was injured in the mishap. The vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Damage to the structure was moderate; the occupants are believed to still be occupying the premises post crash.
