Demarest NJ, in honor of Veterans Day 2022, the Academy of the Holy Angels raised over $2,500 to help bring a trained service dog to a military veteran. This timely event was hosted November 9 by AHA Upper School’s Angels for Veterans organization and the students at AHA Middle School. Students, faculty, and staff (50 in all) received donations for completing laps around the Academy’s track. Funds benefit American Humane’s Pups4Patriots™.

Ridgewood NJ, NJ TRANSIT and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) today announced the programming of $43.6 million in federal Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) funding to seven NJ TRANSIT projects which advance sustainability, bus garage electrification and first/last mile transportation solutions. The funding will be made available to NJ TRANSIT as part of NJTPA’s Fiscal Year 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program.

To protect public safety and support a healthy wildlife population, Governor Phil Murphy announced that the New Jersey Fish and Game Council will discuss the approval of the State’s Comprehensive Bear Management Policy (CBBMP) and consider amendments to the Game Code at its upcoming meeting on Tuesday, November 15. As a means of reducing the black bear population and dangerous bear-human interactions, the amendments include measures to reintroduce a regulated black bear hunt beginning in December. The Fish and Game Council will also consider additional limitations to a regulated hunt, including prohibitions on the taking of cubs.

Washington DC, The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.4 percent in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, the same increase as in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Fair Lawn NJ, on November 8th , the Fair Lawn Police responded on 10/09/22 to a residence on 30th Street after receiving a complaint of multiple animals in the residence that were not cared for. Officers, with Bergen County Animal Control, found multiple cats and dogs that were uncared for. Lt. James Krizek took over the investigation and charged Julie Alaimo, age 37 of Fair Lawn, with 23 counts of animal cruelty. 21 cats and 2 dogs were removed by Animal Control.

Fair Lawn NJ, on the 6 of November at 7:55 pm Fair Lawn Police Officers Brandon Loaiza, Anthony Ferreira, Sal Marotta and Matthew Hearon responded to a residence on Jordan Road after a report of a male found in the backyard with a cell phone on a tripod possibly taking photographs. Daniel Delvalle, age 25 of Fair Lawn, was located at his residence and placed under arrest after he attempted to erase photographs that he had taken through a window into the residence. He was released after being charged with trespassing.
