Platkin announced that the Division of Consumer Affairs has sent cease and desist warning letters to a combination of service, retail and restaurant operators in New Jersey. The letters alert merchants of their duty to disclose total selling price—including surcharges for using credit cards, debit cards or pre-paid cards (“Card Surcharges”)—to consumers.

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today signed S2742/A4194 into law, establishing a police licensing program for all New Jersey law enforcement officers. The new law will require all law enforcement officers to hold a valid, active license issued by the Police Training Commission (PTC) in order to be employed as officers in the State of New Jersey.

Ridgewood NJ, an unoccupied BMW X1 SUV that had been involved in a early Thursday afternoon, 07/21, two (2) vehicle collision at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and North Broad Street, Ridgewood, rolled into an unoccupied Ridgewood Police marked patrol vehicle that had responded to the incident. The BMW was towed from the scene; the patrol vehicle was driven away on its own power, but removed from service until repairs are made. No injuries were reported by any individuals who were involved in the initial collision.

Paramus NJ, retail giant Amazon, made its highly anticipated debut on the Garden State’s supermarket scene. The company’s first Amazon Fresh grocery store in New Jersey opened at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, in Paramus. The new 40,000-square-foot store is located at 30 E. Ridgewood Avenue in the space formerly held by Fairway Market in the Fashion Center . Store hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
