Mastercard Launches Tech that Lets you Pay with your Face

Ridgewood NJ, Mastercard is launching a program for retailers to offer biometric payment methods. Customers will be able to authenticate their payments through facial recognition or fingerprint scanning at checkout instead of using their cards. The system has already been tested in five grocery stores in Brazil. Mastercard plans to roll out the system globally later this year. The biometric tools are part of Mastercard’s plans for the metaverse.

Lyndhurst NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of CHRISTOPHER BAULCH (DOB: 7/24/1978; married; unemployed) of 48 Minns Avenue, Wayne, NJ on arson-related charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Lyndhurst Police Department under the direction of Chief Richard Jarvis.

Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, on Monday, May 30, at 10:30 AM, the Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade starting at Sheridan and Ardmore Avenues and concluding at the War Memorial on East Franklin Turnpike for a Remembrance Ceremony hosted by the V.F.W. Washington Post 192. The ceremony will feature a wreath laying, a rifle salute and a dedication to the unveiling of our Hometown Hero decorative banners honoring our own Ho-Ho-Kus military service members.

Monday Morning Fire Temporally Closes Stop & Shop in Tenafly

Tenafly NJ, an early morning fire at the Stop & Shop in Tenafly closed the grocery store Monday.  The electrical fire began around 630 am before any customers were in the store. Sources say it started in the back of the West Railroad Avenue store creating a heavy smoke condition and  a sprinkler activation. Firefighters said smoke got into the shopping area but no one was hurt. Sources are unsure whether the store would reopen today (Tuesday).

GPS Sends School Bus into Graydon Pool in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, after a drop off at Health Barn a school bus driver was told to park at Graydon Pool . Sources say the driver plugged the GPS coordinates and headed toward Maple Avenue .  Unfamiliarity with the location of the parking lot and careful attention to the GPS commands led the driver to errantly turn in at the barn and head across the sand on the Maple Avenue side and then the Linwood Avenue side leaving the bus stranded . Fortunately no children were on the bus and no one was injured ,except for a bruised ego . A tow truck was called in to remove the bus .
