US Justice Department Announces Nationwide Action to Combat Health Care-Related COVID-19 Fraud

NEWARK NJ,the US Department of Justice announced criminal charges against 21 defendants in nine federal districts across the United States for their alleged participation in various health care related fraud schemes that exploited the COVID-19 pandemic. These cases allegedly resulted in over $149 million in COVID-19-related false billings to federal programs and theft from federally-funded pandemic assistance programs. In connection with the enforcement action, the department seized over $8 million in cash and other fraud proceeds.

Mahwah Museum : Save Our Caboose!

Mahwah NJ, Cabooses were not made to stand still and with consistent exposure to the elements over the years, the Caboose has suffered significant water damage. Along with initial repairs to the siding and windows, the best way to preserve the Caboose for future generations is house it under a pavilion that will shield it from the rain and snow. Construction and materials costs have gone up significantly and the project is estimated to cost $100,000. We are working with the Township to come up with a plan to fund those repairs and will need help from the community.

Early Morning Hackensack Crash Sends Two to The Hospital

Hackensack NJ, City of Hackensack Fire Department Deputy 2, Rescue 1, Engine 2 , & Hackensack UMC responded to an early morning Prospect Avenue and Central Avenue for two vehicle motor vehicle accident. Two parties were treated and transported to Hackensack University medical center. Hackensack police will be conducting the investigation. No further information available at this time.

A Utility Pole and Two Vehicles damaged in a Thursday Evening Crash in Fair Lawn

Fair Lawn NJ, a utility pole and two (2) vehicles were damaged by a Thursday evening, 04/21, crash at the intersection of Morlot Avenue and Dorothy Street in Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn Police and Fair Lawn EMS units responded to the incident, which caused the temporary diversion of eastbound traffic on Morlot Avenue near the Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged utility pole. One (1) driver sustained a minor injury in the crash, but refused ambulance transportation to a local hospital. No disruptions to electric or communication services were reported in the surrounding neighborhoods.

New Jersey Transit Police Reunite Commuter with Stolen Engagement Ring

Ridgewood NJ,  New Jersey Transit Police officers were happy to reunite a fiancé with her stolen engagement ring. She had been traveling on the Hudson Bergen Light Rail days prior when her ring was stolen. At that time, she reached out to NJTPD and officers Markowitz and Sullivan responded to assist. The officers reviewed surveillance footage and observed a suspect take the ring and flee from the area. ⁣
