Ridgewood NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced that the Bureau of Securities ordered three website operators involved in cyber scams to stop offering fraudulent cryptocurrency investments in violation of the New Jersey Securities Law. The Bureau urges New Jersey residents to beware of romance and cryptocurrency scams known as “pig butchering” — a common scheme where perpetrators essentially fatten victims up and then swindle them of all their funds.

Englewood NJ, on Monday January 2nd at approximately 4:30am Englewood Police officer Sargent Byron Aguayo who was off duty at the time and heading to work , observed two suspicious individuals in a residential area . Sargent Aguayo continued to keep an eye on them when he witnessed them enter a private driveway where they burglarized a vehicle. Sargent Aguayo requested assistance and uniformed Englewood Police officers responded and detained the individuals. Subsequent to an investigation the individuals one adult and one juvenile were arrested and changed with several counts of burglary ,theft and receiving stolen property .

Hackensack NJ, on February 3rd at 10:15am members of the City of Hackensack Fire Department Second Platoon’s Engine 2, Rescue 1 and Deputy 2 responded to 405 Route 17S on a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival units found 4 vehicles involved in an MVA with one reported injury. Firefighters provided first aid and checked for injuries on vehicle operator until the arrival of HUMC BLS who took over patient care and obtained an RMA. Firefighters applied absorbent to a minor fluid leak and remained on scene until on duty city tow removed vehicles.

Ridgewood NJ, check out the Village Council Budget Meetings, unlike the school budget you can still have input . The meetings are being held in hybrid format (both in person and via Zoom). The Village Council is discussing the 2023 annual budget and capital budgets for all Village Departments. The next budget meetings will be held on February 23rd, February 24th, and March 6th, all beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Court Room of Village Hall. The result of these meetings will be the setting of the tax rate for the Village’s portion, which is approximately 25% of the overall tax rate.

Fort Lee NJ, the Attorney General’s Office is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred the morning of Saturday, February 4, in Fort Lee, N.J. One male civilian sustained fatal injuries. His identity is not being released at this time.
