Paramus Administrator Cleared after probe on Personal Auto Repairs at DPW

Paramus NJ, an investigation into whether the Paramus borough administrator’s used municipal workers to fix his personal vehicle has concluded. Paramus officials remain tight-lipped about the conclusions. The Paramus Borough Council ordered the probe into Administrator Hector Olmo’s activities in September after Councilwoman MariaElena Bellinger said she had heard that town employees might have been asked to repair his car.

Franklin Lakes NJ, Franklin Lakes residents came out in force telling borough officials they want nothing to do with a proposal to build an enormous 640-unit multi-housing development on the 89-acre IBM/Express Scripts property off Parsons Pond Drive. Over 300 residents from the borough and adjacent Wyckoff attended the combined Franklin Lakes Borough Council and Planning Board information session held at Franklin Avenue Middle School on Wednesday night. During the four-hour session, the residents asked many questions, but mostly they voiced objections to the plan.

High Winds Damage Roof of Commercial Building in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, high winds damaged the roof of a commercial building located at 7 Ethel Avenue, Hawthorne late Friday afternoon, 02/03. Parts of the roof were blown off into an adjacent parking lot. A box truck parked in the lot sustained minor damage when it was struck by falling debris. Hawthorne firefighters conducted an interior and exterior inspection of the building, and also secured all loose roofing material that was left topside. No injuries were reported in the incident. The building was determined to be structurally sound and remained habitable.

Ridgewood Nj the national Weather Service warns of Below Zero Wind Chills Tonight into Saturday Morning. An arctic cold front will move across the region early this morning, bringing some of the coldest air of the season. Along with gusty winds approaching 40 mph, this will produce wind chills of 5 to 15 below zero Friday night into Saturday morning. Some isolated values of less than 15 below are possible. With an anomalously warm winter, many are not acclimated to such cold temperatures and such cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Multi-car Motor Vehicle Accident Involving a Bicyclist in Hackensack

Hackensack NJ, on Friday January 27th at approximately 1:05pm City of Hackensack Fire Engine 1 responded to the intersection of Hudson Street and Vreeland Ave on multi-car motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. Engine 1 assessed bicyclist for injury until the arrival of BLS who took over patient care. Members assisted with packaging of patient for transport to HUMC. Engine 1 applied absorbent to minor fluid spill and remained on scene while on call city tow removed 3 vehicles. Hackensack Police Department is investigating.
