The decision was made to sell the system to a water company with the experience and financial resources to maintain, operate and rehabilitate the system. SUEZ, which has been a partner with Allendale for two decades, was the high bidder.

Allendale NJ, a 63-year-old woman in Allendale suffered moderate injuries after she was struck by a truck Friday evening. According to Police the woman was walking across West Orchard Street around 6:40 p.m. when she was hit by a Dodge pickup truck while she was walking in the crosswalk.

Allendale NJ, The minority owner of Cinelli Iron & Metal Co. (CIMCO) was sentenced today to 33 months in prison for operating a 17-year conspiracy that defrauded customers out of millions of dollars, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.
Craig Cinelli, 49, of Allendale, New Jersey, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton to Count One of an indictment that charged him with conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Judge Wigenton imposed the sentence today in Newark federal court.

We are excited to join other agencies that have adopted #9pmroutine. The following items might seem simple, or even “routine” to some, but if that was the case the majority of towns in New Jersey and nationwide would not be having vehicles burglarized or even stolen, or houses entered, etc.
Set an alarm on your phone to go off daily at 9 PM and take a quick moment to make sure your key fob is not in your car, use that same fob to make sure your vehicle is locked and continue down the list.
We all lead busy lives, but if you have this alarm to remind you to do all these things, you are saving yourself from the potential to have criminal activity happen to you.

Allendale NJ, on the morning of December 24th, Allendale Volunteer Fire Department units responded to Mezzaluna Bistro for an activated fire alarm. Upon arrival of Chief 930 and initial units, a smoke condition was found emanating from the front of the building. At that time a second alarm was transmitted and companies stretched in. The fire was located in between the 1st and 2nd floor and required extensive overall after being knocked down. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Ho Ho Kus Fire Department was alerted into the Borough of Allendale for a working fire in a mixed occupancy building on West Allendale Avenue. Truck 741 responded and was put to work on arrival. Members assisted the Allendale Fire Department with fire suppression and extensive overhaul operations. Truck 741 operated on scene for approximately 4 hours. Nice work by the Allendale Volunteer Fire Department and members of the Northwest Bergen Mutual Aid Association.

Ho Ho Kus NJ, On Tuesday, August 7th, residents throughout Upper Saddle River, Allendale, Saddle River and HoHo-Kus are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “35th Annual National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by USRA Coalition (www.usracoalition.org), will involve over 16,500 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world. In all, over 38.5 million people are expected to participate in “America’s Night Out Against Crime”. NNO 2018 corporate sponsors are Diet & Watson, Ring, Associa and Package Guard.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for America to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer nation. Allendale NJ, Allendale Police are continuing to get reports of bear sightings throughout the Boro. If you see a bear, remember to keep your distance and keep children and pets indoors.
It’s that time of year when bear cubs will again be passing through our area. The Allendale Police will again be monitoring the situation and encourage residents to continue reporting any sightings to the police by calling 201-825-1900.
As a general reminder, keep your distance from any wild animals, including but not limited to bears and coyotes. If you see a bear or coyote, bring pets and children inside until the animal leaves the area. Bears are attracted to neighborhoods by garbage odors. Allendale NJ, Members of the Allendale Volunteer Ambulance Corps evaluated two (2) individuals in connection with a Thursday morning, 02/15, motor vehicle crash into a building at 111 West Allendale Avenue, Allendale. Two (2) adult females, the vehicle’s driver and an employee of the insurance office located in the building, appeared uninjured and both refused transportation to a local hospital for any treatment. The building sustained moderate damage but was rendered safe for occupancy. The SUV involved in the crash was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck.

ALLENDALE — The months-long process of changing over Allendale’s water system management from public to private concluded Thursday with a contract signing at Borough Hall.
Representatives from United Water and the borough gathered at 10 a.m. to ink the five-year, $590,000-per-year deal that will have the utility company handle day-to-day operations for the borough-owned utility.
Allendale will continue to set water rates, but United Water will handle testing, regulation compliance, billing and most of the maintenance as of Thursday, Mayor Vince Barra said.
“The borough is going to be able to avail itself of one of largest and best-run water companies in the country,” Barra said. “They have a tremendous amount of expertise and resources that we don’t have, having had only three employees [in the water department].”
Keeping the borough current with growing state and federal regulations became too onerous for the small municipality, leading officials to send the management of the system out to bid.
It received three bids: United Water’s $590,000 bid, a Ridgewood Water bid for $970,000 and a bid from Newark Water for $1,018,190.
The United bid will save the borough about $193,000 per year, Barra said, money that can go toward capital improvements and stabilizing water rates.
