August 22, 2022I am announcing today that I will be stepping down from the positions of Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Chief of the NIAID Laboratory of Immunoregulation, as well as the position of Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden. I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career.

CDC : Three out of Every five people in the U.S. Have Antibodies from a Previous Covid-19 Infection

Ridgewood NJ,  the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Tuesday that three out of every five people in the U.S. now have antibodies from a previous Covid-19 infection with the proportion even higher among children. The proportion of people with natural Covid antibodies increased substantially from about 34% of the population in December to about 58% in February during the unprecedented wave of infection driven by the highly contagious omicron variant. The CDC’s analysis didn’t factor in people who had antibodies from vaccination.

COVID CONCERNS DECLINE IN NEW JERSEY

West Long Branch NJ,  Support for face mask and social distancing guidelines in New Jersey has dropped significantly since the fall. Less than half of the state supports workplace vaccine mandates according to the Monmouth (“Mon-muth”) University Poll. Concern about Covid illness is at an all-time low as many report having been infected with the virus themselves. The poll also finds New Jerseyans give good grades to the governor and the state as a whole for handling the pandemic.
