Glen Rock NJ, we have had many reports of downed wires today including a death in Franklin Lakes . Just received this message from Glen Rock Police . Do not approach or drive over a downed line and do not touch anything that it might be in contact with. Cones & police line tape has been deployed, it is impossible for officers to remain at these locations.

Heavy, wet snow brought down large trees, branches and wires at numerous locations in town. Electric service crews worked through the night and will continue to work as safely and as quickly as possible. The restoration process will likely take several days given the damage from falling trees that will need to be cleared.

TOP TEN WANTED FUGITIVE DAVEY SCOTT ARRESTED IN JAMAICA ,PENDING EXTRADITION TO BERGEN COUNTY

most wanted

January 26,2018

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Franklin Lakes NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of DAVEY SCOTT (DOB: 10/09/69, formerly of 253 South Clinton Street, East Orange, New Jersey currently residing in Kingston, Jamaica).

The arrest, which took place in Jamaica on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (“BCPO”) under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office under the direction of Sheriff Michael Saudino, and the United States Marshals Service NY/ NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force under the direction of District of New Jersey United States Marshal Juan Mattos, Jr.

The underlying charges stem from an investigation conducted in December 2001 by the BCPO and the Franklin Lakes Police Department. During the course of an undercover narcotics operation, Davey SCOTT attempted to sell over 25 pounds of marijuana to an undercover detective of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force.

As officers moved in to arrest SCOTT, he attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, striking a BCPO detective as he did so. SCOTT was ultimately arrested, charged, and indicted for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute the Same, a crime of the 1st Degree; Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, a crime of the 2nd Degree; and Hindering Apprehension, a crime of the 3rd Degree.  Upon posting bond, SCOTT failed to appear in Bergen County Superior Court to answer the charges and on January 9, 2004, a Bench Warrant was issued for his arrest.  In 2007, he was added to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Most Wanted List.

Over the next 13 years, detectives from the BCPO and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the United States Marshal’s Service NY/ NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force, gathered intelligence and followed leads to determine SCOTT’s whereabouts. SCOTT was eventually located in Kingston, Jamaica, where he was actively working as a DJ under the moniker “DJ Tallman.”

Given that SCOTT is a Jamaican National, prosecutors and detectives filed for and were granted extradition for SCOTT to be returned to the United States to face the aforementioned charges.

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 23, 2018, SCOTT was arrested in Kingston, Jamaica without incident by the United States Marshals Service. He is being lodged in a facility in Jamaica pending extradition to the United States.

Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo would like to thank the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service for their assistance in this investigation.

Valley Health System Enhances Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Using Novel Communication Technology

Ridgewood NJ, The Valley Hospital, an acute care, not-for-profit hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey expanded its use of Twiage, a mobile app that lets first responders instantly communicate with the emergency room.

After an initial pilot phase, Valley has expanded the use of Twiage to 12 local EMS services in Bergen County, NJ, and Rockland County, NY.

The 451-bed hospital, which serves the northern New Jersey area, began using Twiage last year. During the initial phase, hospital teams found that Twiage helps emergency department providers better prepare for incoming patients by having advanced notice of their care needs and estimated time of arrival. It also helps reduce ambulance turnover time, getting them back on the road faster.

“Using Twiage, we have been able to get better notification from our EMS providers about who they are bringing in, what those patients likely need, and when a patient will arrive,” says Caitlin Burke, Emergency Department Clinical Supervisor at The Valley Hospital. “It puts us one step ahead in terms of preparedness and patient care.”

Twiage, a HIPAA-compliant prehospital communication platform that has received innovation awards from the American Medical Association and American Heart Association, can be used to share information such as patient vital signs, symptoms and demographic information via secured photos, videos, voice memo and texts between EMTs, doctors, and nurses. The platform offers emergency department staff real-time situational awareness with live patient data and updates, and GPS-tracking of incoming ambulances.

“Twiage offers us an operational advantage,” says Lafe Bush, EMS Director, Valley EMS. “We started small when we launched it, but the technology is working so well that we are expanding its use to all EMS providers who serve this hospital.”

“We are really excited to be using the Twiage app,” says Milton Kohlmann, Chief of Paramus EMS. “It helps us give some advanced notice to the hospital about what we are dealing with out in the field and when we’ll get that patient to them. If it saves them time and helps them prepare for incoming patients, it’s going to lead to better patient care and make our jobs easier!”

Initially designed to help hospitals more efficiently manage resources for patients who have experienced a stroke, heart attack, sepsis, or trauma, Twiage allows EMS and hospital-based providers to better communicate and share data about all patients, which means a more timely response and better use of resources.

“I believe this program can be of great benefit to achieve our duties as Emergency Medical Technicians,” commented Murray Yang, Captain, Ridgewood EMS previously. “Every second matters in achieving a positive outcome for a patient who’s in need of emergency medical care.”

The current participating EMS agencies include Fair Lawn VAC, Franklin Lakes VAC, Hatzolah EMS, Mahwah EMS, Midland Park Ambulance, NJ Mobile HealthCare, Oakland FAS, Paramus EMS, Pearl River Ambulance, Ramsey Ambulance, Ridgewood Emergency Services, Valley EMS and Wyckoff VAC.

About Twiage
Twiage is an advanced cloud-based platform that uses best-in-class security technology to put telemedicine at the fingertips of emergency first responders and physicians to accelerate live-saving patient care. By giving hospitals a complete picture of all incoming ambulances, Twiage helps hospitals efficiently manage resources and save time, save money, and save lives.

New Fresh Coat Painters Business Comes to Ridgewood Area

New Fresh Coat Painters Business Comes to Ridgewood Area

August 6,2017

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood, NJ,  Long-time friends and business partners Frank and Valerie O’Brien and Keith Hartig are pleased to announce the launch of their new professional painting business, Fresh Coat of Ridgewood.

Fresh Coat offers residential and commercial painting services including interior and exterior painting, wood staining and finishing, and other services for nearly every protective coating application. Their professional painters use quality, environmentally safe materials and the company offers a 24/7 receptionist, online scheduling and detailed quotes. Fresh Coat of Ridgewood serves Franklin Lakes, Mahwah, Paramus, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Waldwick, Wyckoff and the surrounding communities.

“We know from our own experience that it can be a real challenge to find a good painter you can trust. At Fresh Coat, every customer is a priority, and we treat you that way.  We aren’t just coming in to put paint on walls – we want to make sure it’s done right, done professionally and done on time,” Keith said.

The idea to start a business started when Frank O’Brien, who has been a police officer for almost 9 years, decided he wanted to start planning his next steps. Frank and Valerie have friends in Texas who own the Fresh Coat franchise in Denton, so they started asking questions.

“It all spiraled from there and we asked Keith, who we’ve been friends with for a long time, if he wanted to come on board. Valerie has an office management background and Keith is experienced in customer service and sales, so it’s really a perfect fit for us to be working together,” Frank said.

For the owners, opening Fresh Coat is all about bringing a new, high quality painting business to their community and giving people a new, better option, whether they’re looking to have one wall painted or a whole house painted.

“Valerie and I  – and Keith and his wife – bought houses in Bergen County and we’ve realized how subpar the painting industry was in our area. It was nearly impossible for us to get a call back from a quality painter, let alone a decent quote. At Fresh Coat, we offer a different level of customer service and professionalism. We want to change the industry,” Frank said.

As part of their commitment to customer service, Fresh Coat offers a 3-3-3 customer service pledge, so calls will be answered by a live person within three rings, a quote will be delivered within three days (customer schedule permitting) and the job will be started within three weeks.

Fresh Coat was founded in 2004 as part of Strategic Franchising Systems. Since 2015, Fresh Coat has been included in the Bond’s Top 100 and named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 list. Fresh Coat is also part of the International Franchise Association, the Small Business Association’s Franchise Registry, VetFran and Minority Fran. All Fresh Coat employees are trained, dependable, fully insured and background-checked and Fresh Coat of Ridgewood is bonded and insured.

For more information about Fresh Coat of Ridgewood, call (201)383-4466, email Obrien@FreshCoatPainters.com or visit www.FreshCoatRidgewood.com.
