Oakland Police Officer Assaulted at During Traffic Stop

Oakland NJ, on March 11th Oakland Patrol officer, Sergeant Keith Docwra initiated a traffic stop involving an erratic driver that was called in by a motorist. The vehicle was located at the intersection of Long Hill Road and Ramapo Valley Road stopped at a red light with the motorist appearing to be drowsy behind the wheel. The involved vehicle had a flat tire, a heavily damaged wheel, and a smashed rear window sustained from a recent motor vehicle crash.

Oakland NJ, early on Wednesday ,Oakland Police reported  that while waiting for test results at a local business, multiple victims say two male suspects offered them tests to speed up the waiting process. After the victims received what they believed to be a COVID-19 test, they provided the men with their personal identifying information.

Oakland  NJ, According to court documents filed Feb. 26, Nicholas Carretta “suffered substantial fear, apprehension, harm and emotional distress” from three packages sent to his home and office in 2019 and 2020. The deliveries “shocked, scared, and offended” him, according to court documents.

Oakland MVC Closed Due to COVID

Oakland NJ, Motor Vehicle Commission locations in Oakland and Runnemede are now closed because employees in both locations tested positive for COVID-19.

The locations will reopen on Nov. 13 and Nov. 17 respectively. Other agency locations in Paterson, Rahway, Washington and West Deptford are still closed after having infected employees as well.

According to the NJMVC , the Rahway and Washington locations are set to reopen on Saturday; West Deptford will remain closed until Nov. 12 and Paterson will reopen Nov. 14.

Oakland NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JEREMIAH W. HAYDEN (DOB: 8/5/1997; single; unemployed) of 2040 Bruckner Boulevard, Bronx, New York, on charges of Assault By Auto, Possession Of Marijuana, and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Oakland Police Department under the direction of Chief Keith Sanzari.

Oakland NJ,  A Bergen County doctor today admitted distributing opioids without a legitimate medical reason and falsifying medical records to cover it up, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced.

Robert Delagente, 45, of Oakland, New Jersey, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi in Newark federal court to an indictment charging him with one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled dangerous substances, three counts of distribution of controlled dangerous substances, and one count of falsifying medical records.

Tip from Concerned Citizen leads to Gun and Drug Bust in Oakland

Oakland NJ, according to the Oakland Police department  at approximately 9:52 a.m. on December 16, 2019, the Oakland Police Department received a report from a concerned citizen regarding an individual that appeared to be in need of medical assistance who was seen laying outside of a vehicle on Franklin Avenue. Upon the arrival of Officer Tinio, the complainant reported that the individual, later identified as Logan Dipaolo, had gotten up and was last seen running through a wooded area adjacent to I-287. Dipaolo was apprehended by Officer Tinio and Detective Hintzen and further investigation led to his arrest for driving under the influence. A search of Dipaolo’s vehicle led to the discovery of several folds of suspected heroin and hypodermic needles. Questioning at the scene of Dipaolo led to the discovery of a second individual involved, Joseph Bokun, who was located by PO Rowin at Walgreens and placed under arrest for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. While in custody, further information developed that ultimately led to the discovery of a handgun and an additional amount of CDS in the wooded area that Dipaolo was seen running in by canine officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department.

HACKENSACK POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON BURGLARY AND STALKING CHARGES

Hackensack NJ, Bergen County Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of Hackensack Police Lieutenant RICHARD LEVIS (DOB: 02/21/1970; married; employed as a police officer) of Butler, NJ, on charges of Burglary and Stalking. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Oakland Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Keith Sanzari.

On December 30, 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office received information that Hackensack Police Lieutenant Richard LEVIS may have surreptitiously placed a Global Positioning System (“GPS”) tracking device in his estranged wife’s vehicle without permission. A subsequent investigation by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit and the Oakland Police Department Internal Affairs Unit confirmed that LEVIS’ estranged wife discovered a GPS in her vehicle and that LEVIS had been using the device to track her whereabouts.

As a result of the investigation, Richard LEVIS was issued a Summons by Bergen County Central Municipal Court on January 7, 2019 in Hackensack, charging him with one count of Burglary, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, a 3rd degree crime; and one count of Stalking, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-10(b), a 4th degree crime. Richard LEVIS is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

Bergen County Acting Prosecutor Calo states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Oakland Police Department for its assistance in this investigation. Acting Prosecutor Calo would also like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its cooperation in this matter.
