Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Crew team participated in the annual Haddon Hammer held in person at Haddon Township High School. The event attracted 20 clubs. Ridgewood Crew had 50 entries, out of 299 total, second only to Moorestown High School/ Rowing Club.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Schools Superintendent Thomas A. Gorman confirmed at Monday night Board of Education meeting that the mask mandate for schools in New Jersey expired yesterday, and the Ridgewood Public Schools pivoted to a mask optional policy. The feedback from the schools was very positive, and approximately 10-20% of students and staff continued to wear masks. Dr. Gorman thanked the faculty and staff for all they did over the past two years to make the virtual, hybrid, and in-person learning environments successful. He also thanked the students and parents for working with the district during this challenging time. All schools will continue to be vigilant in maintaining a healthy environment. The New Jersey COVID-19 Activity Level Index report has our region at the low (green) level, and the vaccination rate for our children is high. As the district moves through this new phase, the school community will continue to work together for the good of the students.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Board of Education discussed the Alternative Schedules Initiative, recapping some issues that came up following the December community presentation. At that time, the community survey was postponed. The Alternative Schedules Task Force met in January to explore the next steps and ways to further educate the community about this topic.

Red Bank NJ, Common Sense Club today announced the creation of a “Parental Bill of Rights”, soon to be introduced in the New Jersey legislature. This effort recognizes that the most important people involved with a child’s development are the parents and the law should reflect that fact. Similar to what was recently passed in Florida, the bill will provide that “the state, its political subdivisions, any other governmental entity, or other institution may not infringe upon the fundamental rights of a parent to direct the upbringing, education, health care, and mental health of a minor child.”

Mercer County Superior Court Judge Robert Lougy will soon decide whether the state must create and implement a school desegregation plan, hold a trial to gather more evidence or dismiss the case entirely.

These changes have been made in consultation with the Village of Ridgewood Health Department and the School Physician after careful review of the revised NJDOH guidance.

Ridgewood NJ, since 1947, Jamboree has presented an original musical revue to raise need-based scholarship funds for college bound Ridgewood High School seniors. Over 125 RHS parents and guardians contribute each year by performing on stage, designing costumes, building sets, and working backstage.
The Jamboree Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) qualified charity and all contributions are tax-deductible. The entire production and all Jamboree fundraising efforts are 100 percent voluntary. All fund revenues are raised through program advertising, ticket sales and corporate and individual sponsorships.

Ridgewood NJ, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday significantly eased its mask recommendations, including for schools, as part of long-awaited updated guidance for dealing with COVID-19.
Ridgewood NJ, Due to the inclement weather expected tomorrow morning, all Ridgewood Schools will operate under the delayed opening schedule tomorrow, February 25. Under the Delayed Opening Schedule, the school day will begin two hours later than usual, and school bus schedules will operate two hours later. Elementary school children who have not ordered lunch must bring a bag lunch to school. There will not be sufficient time for children to go home for lunch. For students who walk to school, please dress warmly and allow extra time and caution while walking.
