Trenton Continues to Push a Massive Over-development Scheme Under the Guise of . “Affordable Housing”

Trenton NJ, A proposed “Affordable Housing” law aims to establish the required amount of affordable housing for towns to protect against developers bypassing municipal approval processes. The law suggests using a formula outlined in a 2018 court opinion by Judge Mary Jacobson, which initially applied to Princeton and West Windsor. The Department of Community Affairs would calculate the town’s affordable housing number by Dec. 1, 2024, or seven months within the bill’s effective date, avoiding the need for three regional court-appointed special masters, as proposed in the previous session’s draft.

Trenton NJ, Assemblyman Christian Barranco (R-25) took to the floor of the state Assembly this week to condemn a bill affecting electric vehicle charging stations as unenforceable and unrealistic.
The legislation( A4715) would require the state Board of Public Utilities or any other State agency that issues an incentive payment for construction of EV charging station to require that the charging centers be operational 97 percent of the time.

NJ Attorney General: Significant Decreases in Fatal Crashes and Traffic-Related Fatalities in 2023

Trenton NJ, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, along with the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety (HTS), today announced a substantial reduction in traffic-related fatalities in 2023. According to preliminary data as of January 8, 2024, fatal crashes in the state decreased by 9.4%, dropping from 646 in 2022 to 585 in 2023. This positive trend has resulted in an overall 10.4% reduction in fatalities from 2023 to 2022, declining from 689 in 2022 to 617 in 2023, and a 11.5% decrease from the 2021 traffic fatality total of 697.

NJ Governor Murphy Declares State of Emergency in Preparation for Winter Storm

Trenton NJ, Governor Phil Murphy today declared that New Jersey will enter a State of Emergency effective at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9 in anticipation of severe storms causing hazardous weather conditions including heavy rain, high winds, and flash flooding. Executive Order No. 350 declares a State of Emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey, allowing resources to be deployed throughout the state during the duration of the storm.

New Bill Would Give NJ Legislature Massive Pay Raise

Trenton NJ, the bill, slated for review by the state Senate Budget Committee on Thursday afternoon, proposes salary increases for judges, legislative staff, and lawmakers. Under the legislation, pay rates for members of the Legislature would rise from $49,000 to $75,000 annually, effective in 2026. Additionally, salaries could be adjusted annually by no more than 2%, based on the Consumer Price Index, starting in the 2028 legislative year.
