Ridgewood NJ, the NJCCIC observed multiple banking-themed phishing campaigns attempting to be delivered to New Jersey State employees to steal account credentials or personally identifiable information (PII). In one campaign, threat actors spoofed the display name for Customers Bank, which has multiple locations in the United States and New Jersey; however, the sender’s email address was unassociated to the bank. The subject lines may contain keywords such as notification, alert, action required, important verification, and important notification. The non-personalized email informs the target that a temporary hold has been placed on their account due to a failed identity verification. The target is then advised to click a link included in the email, which has been identified as phishing and malicious by VirusTotal.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Mayor Paul Vagianos recently balked at a $300k plan to complete a pedestrian safety/sidewalk installation project (approximately 1200 feet of sidewalk) on the south side of West Glen Avenue between North Monroe Street and S Hill Road. Instead, the Mayor has proposed spending $100k to extend the existing sidewalk by only 400 feet, which would result in its termination mid-block on West Glen Avenue, between North Monroe and S Hill Road.

Ridgewood NJ, a contractors performing decorative flooring/tile work may have unintentionally caused the fire that damaged a large single family home in the 200 block of Crest Road, Ridgewood on Tuesday morning, 04/25. Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which had spread up an interior wall prior to their arrival at the home. Two (2) adults and an infant who were present when the fire broke out safely evacuated the home before police and firefighters arrived. Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters assisted Ridgewood Fire Department at the scene. Volunteer Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident and Ridgewood Police were on hand.
