TRENTON NJ, Governors in a handful of Northeastern States held a conference call to discuss a regional plan for reopening the economy when it’s time to lift some restrictions on the public and businesses. NFIB believes it is important to have those discussions now because a huge number of small businesses are in a financial crisis of immense proportions. While the business owners do want their employees and customers to be safe, a recent survey by NFIB showed most of these companies’ cash reserves could run out in one to two months making reopening not an option.

Ridgewood NJ, In a letter sent Monday, Republican U.S. Senate and former United States Food and Drug official Dr. Rik Mehta, along with former Assistant Secretary of Health and retired 4-star Admiral Dr. Joxel Garcia, applauded the work of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Stephen Hahn, MD, and admonished a dangerous and irresponsible letter issued by Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez and Rep. Bill Pascrell in which they decried FDA for fast-tracking the review process for hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) while calling on Commissioner Hahn to halt the use of these potential treatment options for COVID-19 patients.

Ridgewood NJ, In light of the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the State has placed funding for Homestead Credits in reserve to meet emergency and statutorily required obligations. As a result, there has been no change on the amount due for the 2020 2nd Quarter Tax Bill.

Quarterly Tax Payment due May 1st
The 2nd quarterly property tax payment is due May 1st; however, the Village Council has adopted a resolution stating that the interest on all late payments will be waived, through July 31, 2020. Any quarterly tax payments received August 1st or later will be charged from May 1st to the date of payment. If you have concerns about your quarterly tax payments, please contact Jessica Arnott, Tax Collector, for further guidance.

Ridgewood NJ, Beginning April 13, 2020, all offices and departments will be staffed, with minimal staffing to take into account social distancing requirements, from Monday through Thursday, with the offices and departments closed to the public. All Village offices and departments will be closed on Fridays, without staff. Your phone calls will be answered by Village offices from Monday through Thursday, and you may leave voice messages on Friday. There will be key staff in the offices throughout the week, to ensure that Village operations are running smoothly. All staff, both in and out of the office, will continue to monitor and respond to both Village email and voice messages, Monday through Friday.

Ridgewood NJ, the Village Council’s Regular Public Meeting will be held on April 15, 2020, beginning at 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube as well as on Swagit on the Village website. It will also be broadcast live on Channel 34 for Verizon Fios and Channel 77 for Optimum. During this meeting, the Public Hearing and final adoption of the 2020 Village budget will be held, in addition to other matters of business. Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood Board of Education Election (to vote on the Board of Education budget and elect one Board of Education member for an unexpired 1-year term and two Board of Education members to three-year terms) and the Ridgewood Municipal Election (to elect three Village Councilmembers to 4-year terms) will be held on the same date, May 12, 2020. These elections will be a Vote by Mail election only. There will be two separate ballots in the envelope sent to you, one for the Board of Education and the second one for the Village Council. Vote by mail ballots will be mailed to all registered voters, no later than April 24, 2020. The Vote by Mail ballots must be postmarked by May 12, 2020 and received at the County by May 14, 2020. Therefore, please vote your ballot and mail it back, as soon as possible so that your vote will count. The envelopes included with the ballots are postage paid.
