One-in-four voters are prepared already to postpone the November presidential election if the coronavirus threat continues

Ridgewood NJ, the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 25% of Likely U.S. Voters think the November election should be delayed if necessary as coronavirus panic grips the nation. Sixty-two percent (62%) are opposed to any such delay, but another 13% are undecided.

There is virtually no difference of opinion among Republicans, Democrats and voters not affiliated with either major party on this question.

Nearly half (48%) of all voters believe upcoming state primaries should be postponed because of the coronavirus threat. Thirty-seven percent (37%) disagree and say they should be held on their scheduled dates. Fifteen percent (15%) are not sure.

Five states have postponed their primaries so far because of coronavirus.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted March 17-18, 2020 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Ridgewood NJ, this afternoon, Governor Murphy issued an Executive Order regarding New Jersey elections scheduled through May 12, 2020. Please note that March and April elections have been postponed until May 12, 2020 and all elections now scheduled for May 12 will be conducted solely via vote-by-mail ballot. This means all registered voters will be mailed a vote-by-mail ballot and there will be no in-person voting at polling places for these elections. These changes do not impact the June Primary Election.

IRS : Payment Deadline Extended to July 15, 2020

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The filing deadline for tax returns remains April 15, 2020. The IRS urges taxpayers who are owed a refund to file as quickly as possible. For those who can’t file by the April 15, 2020 deadline, the IRS reminds individual taxpayers that everyone is eligible to request a six-month extension to file their return.

Ridgewood Resident Charged in Altercation with Uber Driver

Hanover NJ, Hanover NJ Police Department on 03/05/20, Officer Erick Magley arrested , a 33 year old female from Ridgewood, NJ for disorderly conduct. Officer Magley was called to the area of #110 Route(Maserati Dealer) for an Uber driver having an issue with a fare. Upon arrival, Officer Magley spoke with the UBER driver who advised him that the female was making rude comments to him and was insulting him. The Uber driver pulled over to let the female out of the car as he did not want her in his vehicle any longer, however she refused to exit his vehicle. During the entire conversation with the Uber driver, The female kept interrupting and screaming so that it was difficult to have a conversation. The female eventually exited the vehicle and continued being belligerent, loud and disrespectful causing a scene in front of the Maserati Dealer on Route 10. She refused to provide information and would not answer questioned posed to her by Officer Magley. When she finally did provide her information she purposely provided false information and claimed to not have any ID on her. She was arrested and charged with hindering and disorderly conduct. She was released pending her court date.

Members of the Ridgewood Police Department, as well as our paid and volunteer emergency services (Fire, EMS and OEM), continue to be here for the community 24/7 in responding to public safety emergencies and criminal acts in progress. However, due to the national, state and county declarations of a state of emergency certain secondary, non-emergent operations will be suspended until further notice.
If you are quarantined (mandatory or self-imposed) in your home due to possible or confirmed COVID-19 exposure, PLEASE notify 911 when you call and advise the dispatcher. We also ask that you place a sign/note on your front door to alert our personnel to take infection-prevention precautions before entering your home or business. Officers will be asking questions before they enter your home. Please respect this procedure and recognize that it also protects you and your family. Please keep Social Distance (six (6) feet) from our Officers when you interact with them.

Childcare/Daycare centers should make the call to close themselves. Centers should contact the Department of Children and Families (DCF), who licenses childcare/daycare centers in NJ, for guidance and work with their local health department to assess level of risk in the community. Health Departments do not license childcare/daycare centers.

Don’t panic. That is always good advice. If you, like the world’s economy, operate on just-in-time inventories, and did not take advice to stock up 3 weeks ago, do not join a mob at a big-box store. Somebody there is no doubt infected. Plus, there’s the risk of getting trampled or injured in a fist fight over the last roll of toilet paper. Most of the world survives without that luxury good. If you have no rice or beans or pasta in the pantry, that is more serious, but you should still avoid mobs if at all possible. Take-out and drive-through places are booming.
