Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Fire Department, and EMS personnel rushed to aid a juvenile female who was seriously injured after falling from a tree on Thursday afternoon, 09/07. The victim was conscious and alert when first responders arrived to aid her, but did require transport to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. Ridgewood PD Patrol Officer Rosario Vaccarella was observed engaging the victim’s playmates in simple games to distract them from treatment being provided to their friend by the EMS team.

Ridgewood NJ, It’s our favorite time of year again! Ridgewood Veterinary Hospital will be hosting our 12th Adopt-A-Pet Day on Sunday, September 17th from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. There will be twenty five to thirty shelters and rescue groups participating with a wide range of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, rabbits, and birds! Open your heart and home to experience a pet’s unconditional love!
Does it get any cuter than this?! If you haven’t already, mark your calendars because these are just some of the puppies from Ruff Rehab Inc that will be joining us Sunday, September 17th for our Adopt-A-Pet Day! They are waiting for their forever home and most definitely have lots of love to give!
Experience the unconditional love a pet can give. Twenty five to thirty shelters and rescue groups will have various breeds of dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, rabbits, and birds up for adoption! Our entire staff volunteers hours before, during, and after the event to show our passion for this cause and to make it run smoothly. Past success brings more people every year, and we hope to see you there!

Ridgewood NJ, During the month of September an exhibit of “Portraits” will be displayed in the Belcher Auditorium at the Ridgewood Public Library. The Library is open 7 days a week. The exhibit of pictures honors the memory of each of “Ridgewood’s Twelve” and offers a quiet place for reflection.
A 9/11 Mass will take place Monday, September 11 at 7PM.

Ridgewood NJ, hurricanes are in season so we asked Ridgewood Mayor Susan Knudsen has the Village enhanced its hurricane response since hurricane Sandy ? During Sandy it seemed the only Village Hall response was to blame PSEG while Mount Carmel Church took on the brunt of the relief work and received little to no credit .
Hi James,
The Village is well organized and prepared for the possibility of severe hurricane conditions. Upon confirmation of the hurricane path, our OEM team will meet and begin mobilizing all necessary resources to ensure the safety and well-being of Village Residents. Protecting Ridgewood residents remains paramount and deployed resources will support this primary objective.
Information will be disseminated utilizing an array of enhance communications and, as always, by asking fellow residents to share information forward and to check in on the elderly and home-bound.
Ridgewood’s relationship with PSE&G has been significantly strengthened over the past year as part of an important initiative to work collaboratively with the utility. However, Ridgewood acknowledges PSE&G must prioritize efforts to restore power during widespread outages.
I have great confidence in our Village Manager, Ridgewood Police, Fire, EMT’s, professionals and dedicated staff to manage any weather event.
Finally, the efforts, assistance, and generosity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and others, is always greatly appreciated.

Ridgewood NJ, On Sunday, September 24, 2017 our Nation honors our Gold Star Mothers and families. The Presidential Proclamation in 2011 commemorating this day pronounces, “As members of a grateful Nation, we owe a debt we can never repay, but hold this sacred obligation forever in our hearts, minds, and actions. We honor their sacrifice, and stand with our service members, military families, and Gold Star families as they have stood for us.” The American Legion Post 53 and Ridgewood NJ’s Blue Star Families are committed to bringing awareness to our community and to commemorate the sacrifices these mothers and their families have made for our Country.
In the aftermath of World War I, Washington D.C. resident Grace Darling Seibold formed an organization called Gold Star Mothers to support the moms who had lost sons and daughters to the war. Grace’s son, First Lieutenant George Vaughn Seibold, was an aviator killed in combat over France in 1918. In 1928, the small D.C.-based group decided to nationalize its efforts. In 1936, a joint congressional resolution established the last Sunday in September as Gold Star Mother’s Day. The Gold Star Mothers grew from a support group of 60 women to today’s extensive nationwide network with tens of thousands of members and hundreds of local chapters.
In Ridgewood, NJ the Gold Star Mother’s Day Committee will sponsor our seventh annual event commemorating Gold Star Mother’s Day on Sunday, September 24th, at Van Neste Park. There will be a short ceremony starting promptly at 7:00 p.m. and hundreds of luminaries will be lit to honor Gold Star Mothers and their families. But in addition, our goal is to see thousands of other luminaries lit throughout Ridgewood and other towns on September 24th to honor the Gold Star Mothers and families!
Luminaries will be available for a donation before the ceremony at the following location:
