The Environmental Remediation at the Town Garage Site in Ridgewood Continues to Make Progress

Ridgewood NJ, the environmental remediation at the Town Garage site  at 120 Franklin Avenue and at the corner of North Walnut Street Parking Lot (132 Franklin Avenue) is moving forward. According Village Manager Keith Kazmark, seven fuel tanks have been removed from the parking lot, and material from the Town Garage property continues to be excavated and removed by the previous owner.

Remediation and Tank Removal Makes Progress at the Town Garage Site in Ridgewood and I Smell Gas

Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Mayor Paul Vagianos the Town Garage property which “has been sitting dormant – and not very attractive – in our beloved downtown since about 2007. This past October the Village took ownership of the property, and a couple of weeks ago the building was demolished. We’ve begun remediation of the site – at the expense of the prior owner – which will be followed by two years of required environmental testing.”

Another archaic Ridgewood rule – Sidewalk sales only on “Ridgewood Sales Days”

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood  blog has observed of late that there are some downtown shop owners who routinely put their merchandise out on the sidewalk for display. We have just been told that this is not permitted by ordinance. Merchandise can only be legally put out for sidewalk display on authorized “Ridgewood Sales Days.” How ridiculous is that?

Any Day Now: Demolition of Former Town Garage Structure in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, Village Manager Keith Kazmark recently announced that demolition of the former Town Garage structure will take place within the next 2 to 3 weeks. The contractor involved in the project is now applying for demolition permits, which will be expedited by the Village’s Building Department. Portions of the Walnut Street municipal parking lot will be unavailable once demolition begins. More to follow from the Village Manager.
