Glen Rock NJ, the Glen Rock Police report that at 11:53 a.m. on Thursday November 12th , patrols were dispatched to the Rock Road Central Business District to investigate a report of a man sitting on a bench bleeding. The victim, a 93-year-old Ridgewood man, stated he was walking on the sidewalk when a dog ran out from a lobby door leading to second floor apartments. The dog then lunged at the man and bit his left wrist. The victim was treated on scene by EMT’s and refused further medical attention. Officers were able to identify the dog and its owner. The matter has been referred to TYCO Animal Control. Incidents of this nature are investigated by Animal Control in cooperation with Bergen County Health Services.

Ridgewood NJ, An email has been sent out by the Health Department for all present dog owners to renew their dog licenses. Since rabies vaccines for pets are essential in providing a barrier of protection between pets and people in the community, we encourage the vaccination of pets. In addition, the NJ Statute states that dog licenses shall expire no later than June 30th in the current licensing year. We have not received notice that this has been extended through current legislation, due to the pandemic.

Ridgewood NJ, The Village Code of the Village of Ridgewood Section 105-13, requires that all owners of dogs must immediately and properly place their pet’s solid waste, which has been deposited onto public or private property, into a suitable container (plastic bag) and then disposed of in a refuse container. It also provides for a fine of up to $500 for not doing so. Recently, there have been many pet owners who are not picking up after their pets and/or placing the bags with solid waste into their neighbor’s bushes or leaving the bag on the ground. At this very challenging time, please do the right thing by picking up after your dog and disposing of it properly.
