Hawthorne NJ, three (3) individuals were hospitalized following a two (2) vehicle, early Wednesday morning, 10/19, collision at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Loretto Avenue, on the border of Fair Lawn and Hawthorne. One (1) of the vehicles involved was propelled into the front façade of a nearby Hawthorne restaurant, which was, fortunately, unoccupied at the time. Both heavily damaged vehicles were towed from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, this morning Fair Lawn Police responded to an arborist who had broken his left leg after cutting a limb that came back and crushed it. The victim was stuck about 40 feet in the air on a limb that was unsteady.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, and Fair Lawn EMS personnel & vehicles responded to a single passenger car rollover crash at the intersection of Kershner Place and Prospect Street late Thursday night, 09/15. The driver of the vehicle, which rolled completely over and landed “right side up,” was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center’s Main Campus with unspecified, non-life threatening, crash related injuries. Although a utility pole was destroyed during the crash, there were no apparent power outages in the area. A traffic control sign was also wiped out. Firefighters and Rescue Squad personnel attended to fluid spilled from the crashed vehicle, which was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. No word from police on the scene as to what may have caused the driver to lose control and hit the utility pole.
Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle Thursday morning, 08/04, crash with rollover on Broadway eastbound near Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn resulted in massive rush hour traffic back ups on Broadway/Route 4 and Route 208. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue responded to the incident. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS assisted. A flatbed tow truck righted the flipped vehicle (a Honda Civic), and removed both wrecks from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, three (3) ambulances were required to transport victims from the scene of a Friday afternoon, 06/10, motor vehicle crash on 17th Street in Fair Lawn to local area hospitals. A minivan, which appeared to have been transporting developmentally disabled individuals, crashed head-on into a fire hydrant in front of a single family home located in the 3-00 block of 17th Street. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn EMS, and the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, along with mutual aid ambulances and a paramedic team, rushed to aid the crash victims.
Fair Lawn NJ, no injuries were reported following an early Saturday afternoon, 05/07, crash in which the driver of an older model Toyota Camry lost control of his vehicle, veered off of River Road in Fair Lawn, and struck a VW Passat parked in the driveway of a single family home located in the 4-00 block of River Road. The Passat came to rest against the home, but no structural damage was reported. The damaged Camry continued southbound on River Road and came to rest on the front lawn of a nearby home. Fair Lawn Police and Fair Lawn Fire Department responded to the incident. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by separate flatbed tow trucks.
Fair Lawn NJ, a phone call from a motorist driving on Route 208 southbound in Fair Lawn was the sole notification Fair Lawn Fire Department received in connection with a fire on the roof of a single family home located in the 1600 block of Eberlin Drive on Sunday night, 03/13. The home’s occupants were unaware of the fire until the arrival of fire department personnel on the scene. All occupants of the home were safely evacuated; no injuries to civilians nor to emergency responders were reported. Fair Lawn Fire Department , the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, Fair Lawn Police, and Fair Lawn EMS responded to the incident.
Fair Lawn NJ, a two (2) vehicle, early Monday evening, 01/24, crash in the 35-00 block of Morlot Avenue, Fair Lawn resulted in the driver of a Toyota Avalon 4-door sedan sustaining serious injuries that required ambulance transportation with an Advanced Life Support team from The Valley Hospital assisting Fair Lawn EMTs. Fair Lawn firefighters had to cut a steel fence in order to free the injured driver from her vehicle. Fair Lawn Police and Fair Lawn Rescue personnel & vehicles also responded to the incident. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Glen Rock NJ, a tractor trailer-tanker truck jackknifed on Route 208 southbound near Harristown Road, Glen Rock on Monday afternoon, 11/08 after colliding with another commercial vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported by either driver. However, police were forced to close Route 208 southbound just prior to the accident scene for over two (2) hours to facilitate remediation of a diesel fuel spill, and removal of the heavily damaged truck. Glen Rock Police, Glen Rock Fire Department, Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, Bergen County Hazmat, and NJDOT personnel responded to the incident.
Glen Rock NJ, an explosion reported to be electrical in nature rocked a single family home located in the 400 block of Prospect Street, Glen Rock on Thursday morning, 08/12. No injuries were reported in the blast, but property damage in the form of shattered windows and missing roof shingles was reported. Glen Rock Police, Ridgewood Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Glen Rock Fire Department units & personnel responded to the incident. A representative of PSE&G’s Gas Division was also on the scene. UPDATE: Damage is now reported to be as a result of an overnight lightning strike, not an explosion.
Fair Lawn NJ, a late Wednesday afternoon, 08/04, rollover crash with entrapment in the 100 block of Lincoln Avenue, directly on the Fair Lawn-Hawthorne border, triggered a turnout of emergency responders representing several municipalities. The lone occupant of the rolled over vehicle, its adult female driver, was extricated by Fair Lawn Fire Department and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue members and transported to a nearby hospital by members of the Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Her injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature. Fair Lawn Police, Glen Rock Police, and Hawthorne Police officers also responded to the mishap. Traffic on Lincoln Avenue between Harristown Road and Loretto Avenue was diverted while emergency crews worked.
Fair Lawn NJ, two (2) vehicles were towed in connection with a rollover crash on the entrance ramp to Route 208 northbound from Fair Lawn Avenue, Fair Lawn on Thursday afternoon, 07/15. An adult female occupant of a white colored Toyota SUV was transported by a Fair Lawn EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Fair Lawn Police is investigating the crash, which damaged a parked vehicle as well as the Toyota. Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue and Fair Lawn Fire Department also responded to the incident. The entrance ramp was closed until the SUV could be righted and removed from the foliage.
Fair lawn NJ, a high speed pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle terminated in a crash at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and Plaza Road North, Fair Lawn on Wednesday afternoon, 07/22. Five (5) vehicles, including the one being pursued, were involved in the collision; all were removed from the scene by multiple flatbed tow trucks. At least two (2) crash victims were transported to local hospitals by ambulances. Paramus Police took two (2) adults, a male and a female, into custody. No police officers appeared to have been injured in the incident. Fair Lawn Fire Department extinguished an engine compartment fire in one (1) of the wrecked cars. Police officers from several local agencies converged on the scene to assist to aid the injured, and to help with crowd and traffic control.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Fire Department responded to extinguish a fully involved passenger vehicle fire in the 2900 block of Fair Lawn Avenue late Sunday morning, 07/19. The vehicle was totally destroyed; no injuries were reported in the incident. Fair Lawn Police also responded to provide traffic control assistance and to take the necessary information for a property damage report. A tow truck removed what remained of the 4-door sedan. Traffic on Fair Lawn Avenue was detoured while emergency crews worked at the fire scene.
Glen Rock NJ, A fully involved vehicle fire on Pamrapo Court West, Glen Rock was extinguished by Glen Rock Fire Department early Tuesday morning, 07/14. No injuries were reported in the conflagration. The charred Ford Explorer SUV was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Glen Rock Police and Fair Lawn Fire Department also responded to the incident.
