Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle, Friday morning, 12/11, crash at the intersection of Plaza Road and Rosalie Street, Fair Lawn resulted in two (2) serious injuries, both of which required ambulance transportation to a local hospital(s). One (1) of the vehicles involved, a passenger van, crashed into a single family home after colliding with the other vehicle (a 4-door Saturn). Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Company #3, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue responded to the incident along with ambulances and paramedic teams from the regional hospital consortium. Flatbed tow trucks removed the wreckage. Damage to the struck home appeared to have been minor in nature.
Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle Monday evening, 11/23 crash at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn resulted in at least one (1) fatality and an unknown number of injuries. Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire, Fair Lawn EMS, Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue, and a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital rushed in vain to aid crash victims. The entire intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and Saddle River Road was likely to remain closed for hours to facilitate an investigation, restoration of damaged utility & traffic control equipment, and clean up. NorthJersey.com is reporting , “At least one person died in a motor vehicle accident on Saddle River Road in Fair Lawn Monday evening, police confirmed.”
Fair Lawn NJ, A 1-1/2 story single family home in the thirty-eight hundred block of Vanore Drive, Fair Lawn caught fire on Saturday morning, 11/07. Fair Lawn firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which appeared to have been limited primarily to the structure’s exterior. All occupants of the home safely exited the structure prior to the arrival of fire department personnel. Fair Lawn Police also responded.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Companies #1 & #3, and the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad responded to a early Friday afternoon, 10/30, crash in which a box truck veered off of River Road and crashed into a utility pole and large shade tree before coming to rest on the front lawn of a single family home. The truck’s driver self extricated from the wreckage; the nature of his/her injuries is unknown. River Road was closed in both directions for an extended period to facilitate replacement of the pole, and the restoration of utility services. Elmwood Park Police assisted by providing traffic control.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Company #1, Fair Lawn OEM, Fair Lawn DPW, NJ Transit Police ESU, and NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife personnel all joined forces on Monday afternoon, 09/28, to capture a 70 pound female bear cub that treed itself at NJ Transit’s Radburn passenger rail station on Pollitt Drive in Fair Lawn. The cub was captured unharmed, medically checked and tagged by NJDEP staff, and placed in a specially equipped truck for transport to a undisclosed location for release into the wild. Dozens of bystanders watched from a nearby shopping center parking lot, and the eastbound Radburn train station platform, as the capture was executed.
Fair Lawn NJ, members of the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad assisted Fair Lawn Police patrol officers in the rescue of at least two (2) baby rabbits that were trapped in basement window wells covered by protective grates at the Forrest Elementary School, 10-00 Hopper Avenue, Fair Lawn on Saturday evening, 09/05. All trapped rabbits were successfully rescued and released into a nearby multi-purpose field. Children playing in the area had notified Fair Lawn Police of the animals’ predicament.
Fair lawn NJ, One (1) non-life threatening injury was reported following a Wednesday afternoon, 09/02 motor vehicle crash inside of the Jack Daniels Kia dealership at 29-09 Broadway, Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn Police and a BLS ambulance from Hackensack University Medical Center responded to the incident. The damaged vehicle, a white colored Kia, was able to be driven away from the interior crash scene and parked in an exterior service lot. No word from police on the scene as to who was driving the vehicle when it crashed, nor what the vehicle hit. The injured driver, an adult male, walked to the ambulance on his own power.
Fair lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police and Fair Lawn EMS responded to aid the injured driver of a 4-door Infiniti after it crashed into a utility pole in the 16-00 block of Kipp Street, Fair Lawn on Wednesday afternoon, 08/05. The female victim was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Her injuries appeared to have been non life threatening in nature. A passenger in the vehicle escaped injury. The wrecked sedan was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Police at the scene did not say what caused the driver to lose control and crash. No word either as to whether any crash related summonses would be issued.
Fair lawn NJ, a high speed pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle terminated in a crash at the intersection of Fair Lawn Avenue and Plaza Road North, Fair Lawn on Wednesday afternoon, 07/22. Five (5) vehicles, including the one being pursued, were involved in the collision; all were removed from the scene by multiple flatbed tow trucks. At least two (2) crash victims were transported to local hospitals by ambulances. Paramus Police took two (2) adults, a male and a female, into custody. No police officers appeared to have been injured in the incident. Fair Lawn Fire Department extinguished an engine compartment fire in one (1) of the wrecked cars. Police officers from several local agencies converged on the scene to assist to aid the injured, and to help with crowd and traffic control.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Fire Department responded to extinguish a fully involved passenger vehicle fire in the 2900 block of Fair Lawn Avenue late Sunday morning, 07/19. The vehicle was totally destroyed; no injuries were reported in the incident. Fair Lawn Police also responded to provide traffic control assistance and to take the necessary information for a property damage report. A tow truck removed what remained of the 4-door sedan. Traffic on Fair Lawn Avenue was detoured while emergency crews worked at the fire scene.
Englewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JONATHAN A. ROSSI (DOB:2/18/1998; single; auto parts store employee) of 150 Tryon Avenue, Apartment A5, Englewood, NJ on charges of Arson, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Fair Lawn Police Department under the direction of Chief Glen Cauwels.
Glen Rock NJ, according to the Glen Rock Police on Tuesday evening around 7pm a large and deep sink hole developed on route 2008 south bound closing all but on e lane .Ridgewood Emergency Services Volunteers were out on Route 208 this evening assisting Fair Lawn Police and Glen Rock Police with traffic management. Emergency Services members are trained in the use of signing, cones along with the use of a high visibility display board mounted on the trucks to alert drivers. High visibility white lights provide safe working conditions for those on the scene. Emergency Services can be on the scene within minutes of being requested. This rapid response promotes safety on the roadway for all.
Fair lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police report that it was shortly after 2 p.m. when the heavy-set black female robber “passed a note to the teller while keeping one hand in her jacket pocket and bringing that pocketed hand on top of the counter for the bank teller to see. Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police, Fair Lawn Fire Department Company #1, Fair Lawn Rescue, and Fair Lawn EMS personnel all rushed to aid the victims of a two (2) vehicle Monday morning, 03/02, crash at the intersection of George Street and Hopper Avenue, Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn Rescue personnel used the “Jaws of Life” to free the adult male driver of a black colored SUV from his vehicle. News sources reported that three (3) victims of the crash were transported by ambulances to local hospitals. Both vehicles involved in the collision were totaled and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. A crash related fluid spill was also attended to by Fair Lawn Rescue. A basic life support ambulance from the area hospital consortium assisted Fair Lawn EMS with triage and transport.
