Support for Wind Farms off the Jersey Shore Continues to Decline

Atlantic City NJ, after a female Pygmy whale stranded itself on a beach on LBI Tuesday morning, the 14th on the Jersey Shore since December. A  NJBIZ survey found that just over half of residents (54%) are in favor of developing wind farms off the state’s coast versus 40% who oppose them. That’s a stark plunge in support from a 2019 Monmouth poll on this topic, when favorability stood at 76% with just 15% opposed. From 2008 to 2011, that support was more than 80%.

Governor Murphy Pushes all Electric Cars in New Jersey on the Same day New Study Indicates EV’s have Larger Carbon Footprint

Ridgewood NJ, electric vehicle skeptics have frequently argued that the manufacturing and disposal of battery-electric vehicles like Teslas as well as reliance on coal to generate the electricity that powers them leaves EVs with a larger carbon footprint than nonelectric vehicles. Unfortunately, there is a dearth of studies that have tried to approve or disapprove this notion. But finally, the Manhattan Institute has compiled a comprehensive report ( https://manhattan.institute/article/electric-vehicles-for-everyone-the-impossible-dream ) that compares lifetime greenhouse gas emissions of EVs vs. ICEs by looking at dozens of parameters and data points.

Ridgewood NJ, The Federal Highway Administration approved the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s plan to add a controversial toll (congestion pricing) around Manhattan’s central business district. A group of Congress members from New Jersey both Democrats and Republicans – called on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to cancel the plan, saying that it will “impose significant new costs” on New Jersey commuters and families. The signees included Reps. Thomas Kean Jr., Frank Pallone Jr., Bill Pascrell Jr., Donald Payne Jr., Mikie Sherrill, Jeff Van Drew and Bonnie Watson Coleman.

Union members were on strike for about a week before they agreed to go back to the classroom amid a tentative deal. An Open Letter to Governor Murphy Concerning the Recent Significant Increase in the loss of Marine life

Governor Murphy,

We are writing today to appeal for an immediate moratorium on all offshore wind activity in light of the recent significant increase in whale deaths and the loss of other marine life along the Jersey shore and in our waters. While we understand the need to find alternative energy sources that help reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources, we must be sure that our current practices are safe for the environment and the animals with whom we share our world.

Trenton NJ, even the far leftist Monmouth University Poll could find very little to cheer about in in latest “Quality of Government ” poll. Neither Trenton nor Washington is clicking on all cylinders but the federal government scores slightly worse, according to the New Jersey public in a new Monmouth University Poll. Just under half of Garden State residents see politics as a “dirty business” – a view that has increased over the past 15 years. Still, a majority feel they can personally make a difference in solving problems in their local communities and half report having done so.
