The announcement marks an important milestone in the coalition’s ongoing fight against offshore wind industrialization along the East Coast.
Following decisions of its Board of Directors, Ørsted will cease development of the Ocean Wind 1 and 2 projects and has taken final investment decision on the Revolution Wind project. The decisions are part of an ongoing review of Ørsted’s US offshore wind portfolio.

Atlantic City NJ, after a female Pygmy whale stranded itself on a beach on LBI Tuesday morning, the 14th on the Jersey Shore since December. A NJBIZ survey found that just over half of residents (54%) are in favor of developing wind farms off the state’s coast versus 40% who oppose them. That’s a stark plunge in support from a 2019 Monmouth poll on this topic, when favorability stood at 76% with just 15% opposed. From 2008 to 2011, that support was more than 80%.

Long Branch, NJ, Recently three more deceased right Whales came to rest on area beaches. Two in NY waters and one on the beach in Long Branch, NJ. Bringing the total to 14 whales since January of this year in our area. The total in all 2022 was 10 according to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center which keeps track of such occurrences.

Atlantic City NJ, , Denmark’s Orsted (ORSTED.CO), the world’s No. 1 offshore wind farm developer, on Thursday reported second-quarter operating profit below expectations and confirmed its full-year guidance. Second-quarter earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) excluding new partnerships fell 8% from a year earlier to 3.32 billion Danish crowns ($489.56 million), compared with the 3.85 billion expected by analysts in a Refinitiv poll. Orsted kept its 2023 forecast for EBITDA excluding new partnerships unchanged at between 20 billion and 23 billion crowns.”However, compared to the guidance provided in our annual report for 2022, we now expect higher earnings in Offshore than initially announced,” Chief Executive Mads Nipper said in a statement. On Saturday July 15th New Jerseyans up and down the coast protested the heavily subsidized wind projects being built up and down the Jersey shore. Protestors joined hands on beaches from Lavallette, Asbury Park, Long Beach Island, Ocean City all the way down to Cape May in a demonstration against off shore wind projects.
