Mahwah NJ, The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Mahwah Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred at 26 Avenue A in Mahwah, NJ on Monday, July 12, 2021. At approximately 9:44 p.m. on July 12, the Mahwah Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting at 26 Avenue A. Responding officers found the victim, 56-year-old Phu Tsewang, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Mahwah NJ, the Mahwah Republican Club today announced they have awarded scholarships to two graduating Mahwah High School Seniors, Isabella Garcia and Elijah Greenberg. Isabella, will be attending The United States Military Academy at West Point, and Elijah will be attending Clarkson University in the Fall. The scholarship essay contest, titled “Do you Believe the American Dream of Living a Better Life Than Your Parents, Is Alive and Well?” was originally intended to award one scholarship, but two were ultimately presented. “Of all the entries received, these two essays stood out among the others. We are grateful that the next generation of young adults entering college and the workforce, have an appreciation for the commitment and dedication their parents and grandparents showed, in building our great country”, said Josephine and Charles Rabolli, Mahwah Republican Club members and generous sponsors of the award. They continued, “Both essays were worthy of the scholarship, so we decided to double the award, pay if forward, and name two winners”. Their son Charles, who is currently enrolled at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, won the Club scholarship award in 2014.
MAHWAH NJ, The Civil Air Patrol, the Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored tradition signifying the transition of leadership at all echelons of command. The Walter M. Mahwah NJ, Police officials confirmed that the Mahwah resident drowned, and that his body was found around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The body of a 24-year-old man has been recovered from a Dators Pond after he went missing while paddle boarding. The 24-year-old is believed to have drowned. He was out on the water with his older brother on Monday, according to police. He reportedly lost his balance and fell into the water.
Mahwah NJ, The Mahwah community will hold its first town-wide Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 19th at Commodore Perry Field in Mahwah, from 11-1pm. Mahwah recently passed the resolution to recognize Juneteenth and this year marks the first officially recognized Juneteenth holiday in the township. The celebration will include live music, refreshments, DJ entertainment, and inspirational remarks from local town officials, including the Mayor, James Wysocki, as well as faith leaders Rev. Lemuel Brown of the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church of Ridgewood, Rev. Kenneth Hyman of Mt. Zion AME church in Mahwah, and Rev. Steve Huston, Co-Leader/Resource Presbyter of the Presbytery of Northern New Jersey. In addition, students from the township and community members alike will lend their voice to celebrate the significance of the holiday.

Mahwah NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of GUSTAVO R. GONZALEZ (DOB: 9/06/1996; single; laborer) of Middletown, New York on charges of Sexual Assault, Criminal Sexual Contact, Criminal Restraint, Terroristic Threats, Possession Of A Weapon For An Unlawful Purpose, and Simple Assault. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Mahwah Police Department under the direction of Chief Stephen Jaffe.
