Paramus NJ, As New Jersey’s largest community college, with approximately 15,000 students, faculty, staff and community members visiting its main campus each day, Bergen Community College has transitioned most of its fall schedule to remote online learning in the interest of health and safety and frozen tuition rates to enhance the College’s renowned affordability. The institution will offer a limited number of practice-based classes, such as those in health professions, in person. No classes will take place at the Philip Ciarco Jr. Learning Center in Hackensack and only paramedic science program practicals will take place at Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands in Lyndhurst. The fall semester begins Sept. 2 and students can register at https://Bergen.edu or email [email protected] for assistance.

Paramus NJ, after heavy thunder storms we often post photos of trees down in Ridgewood and Glen Rock but Sunday nights storms seemed to hit Paramus exceptionally hard. Paramus Police and Fire Department were operating in the area of Roosevelt Blvd where numerous wires, trees and poles were taken down during a severe thunder storm this afternoon. Ridgewood NJ, The Valley Hospital has enhanced its Pediatric Subspecialty Service with the addition of a comprehensive Pediatric Food Allergy Program, offered in partnership with the Mount Sinai Health System.
The program expands and improves comprehensive patient care, educational efforts, and clinical research/treatments in the field of food allergy. It will be led by board-certified pediatric allergist/immunologist and Mount Sinai Hospital faculty member Jacob Kattan, MD.

Paramus NJ, A black bear has been sighted in the area of Columbine Road. Anyone who sees the bear is asked to contact the Paramus Police Department at 201-262-3400. Nearly wiped out a century ago by habitat destruction and indiscriminate killing, black bears today are thriving, particularly in the northwestern area of the state. Their range is expanding south and east, and black bears have been sighted in all of New Jersey’s 21 counties. Black bears learn very quickly.

Paramus NJ, A segment of northbound Paramus Road, Paramus was temporarily closed on Friday morning, 06/19, after a flatbed truck carrying building materials struck a large overhead telephone trunk line cable and knocked it to the ground. Paramus Police and Paramus Fire Engine Company #3 responded to the incident. No injuries were reported and the truck appeared to have sustained no damage.

Paramus NJ, Indoor portions of retail shopping malls will be allowed to reopen on June 29th, Governor Phil Murphy announced on Thursday.“Keep your distance, wear a face covering, and follow pedestrian directions,” Murphy urged. “Let’s keep this restart going, and going safely.”
Face masks, in fact, will be required as part of the order. Businesses within the mall will be limited to 50% capacity. Employees will be required to wear masks.
Common areas like food courts and mall movie theaters will remain closed.

Paramus NJ, Paramus Police report they have been experiencing numerous thefts from vehicles during the overnight hours in the neighborhoods East and West of Forest Ave between Midland Ave and Ridgewood Ave. Most of the incidents are occurring between 2:00 am hours and 6:30 am. In most of the reported incidents there is one subject observed wearing all dark clothing, with his/her face covered, carrying a satchel across his body and possibly black Nike sneakers with white accent. Today, our district became aware that racially and sexually offensive postings were circulated over social media by several of our students in response to the events occurring throughout the country following the tragedy in Minnesota. The Paramus Board of Education, the administration, staff, student body, community, and many others outside of Paramus are justifiably outraged by these racially and sexually charged messages.
