Paramus NJ, the Borough Council bid farewell to Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg on May 23 . Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg retired after 10 years .On June 1st the borough held a swearing in ceremony of its 12th Chief Of Police, Robert Guidetti. Guidetti served in law enforcement since 1984 across a broad range of positions, including patrol, plain clothes, intelligence and investigative assignments, specializing in the investigation of organized retail crime.
Ridgewood NJ,Traffic on Route 17 northbound through Ridgewood was temporarily restricted to one (1) lane following a Thursday morning, 06/01, three (3) vehicle crash with rollover and entrapment. Ridgewood Police Patrol Division officers freed the driver of a Subaru Forester that rolled over during the collision. A Nissan sedan and a UPS truck were also involved. No injuries were reported by the UPS driver, however the other drivers involved in the mishap sustained minor injuries. Ridgewood Police was assisted at the scene by uniformed officers from Paramus Police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office. The Nissan and Subaru were both towed from the scene.
Paramus NJ, no injuries were reported following a Sunday morning, 05/28, crash in which the driver of a Subaru Outback inadvertently backed into a large construction pit in the rear of a commercial nursery located on Pascack Road in Paramus. Paramus Police responded to the mishap. Two (2) flatbed tow trucks were used to extricate the vehicle from its predicament.
Paramus NJ, a portion of westbound Oradell Avenue in Paramus was temporarily closed on Thursday morning, 05/25, after a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole and rolled over. The truck’s driver sustained a non-life threatening crash related injury and was attended to by Paramus EMS personnel. Paramus Police was assisted with traffic control by Oradell Police. Paramus Fire Department also responded to the incident.
Paramus NJ, a flatbed tow truck driver crashed into a tree after experiencing a medical episode while driving near a former Barnes & Noble store at the intersection of Glen Avenue and Route 17 southbound in Paramus late Tuesday morning, 05/16. The victim was quickly attended to by a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital along with Paramus Police and Paramus EMS personnel. He was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital after on-scene evaluation and treatment. A heavy-duty tow truck removed the damaged vehicle from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, according to the Paramus Police Department a knife-wielding man involved in an aggravated domestic violence incident fled from police and resisted arrest.
Paramus NJ, Emergency responders from multiple Borough of Paramus agencies worked in unison to free a double amputee from a vehicle that had crashed through a fence at the end of a bank’s drive up lane. The incident occurred at the Spencer Savings Bank, 242 Oradell Avenue, Paramus on Friday afternoon, 03/31. The victim refused medical attention after being rescued. A Paramus Police Emergency Services truck winched the 4-door sedan from its predicament. No information was provided as to whether the victim was permitted to drive the vehicle away.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Road in Paramus was closed in both directions between West Ridgewood Avenue and West Midland Avenue for an extended period on Monday, 03/27. The closure was resultant from a crash in which a pickup truck severed a utility pole across from the Paramus Food Center at approximately 0830 hours. The pickup truck’s driver was uninjured; however, his truck was totaled and removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Paramus Police responded along with crews from PSE&G’s Electric Division.
Paramus NJ, teens in a stolen SUV tried to escape police and crashed, sending a police officer and two women to the hospital . The driver, 17, slammed into two cars, a police cruiser and a Lexus with the two female occupants during a car chase that ended near Century and Paramus roads late Wednesday night according to Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg announced that Lieutenant Brian P. McGovern has graduated as a member of the 285th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 16th, 2023. Lt. McGovern is the fourth officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.
Ridgewood NJ, the driver of a Ford Bronco sustained non life threatening injuries following a Friday morning, 03/17, collision at the intersection of Mack Center Drive and South Paramus Road, Paramus. A large box truck allegedly hit the Bronco in the intersection before it fled in an unknown direction. The victim was transported to a local hospital by a Paramus EMS ambulance. A paramedic team from Hackensack University Medical Center also responded to the incident. Paramus Police is investigating the hit and run crash.
Paramus NJ, An unknown number of children sustained minor injuries when a Paramus Board of Education owned & operated school bus collided with a Mercedes SUV at the intersection of East Ridgewood Avenue and Highland Avenue, Paramus, at approximately 0840 hours on Monday, 02/06. The bus was en route to the Parkway Elementary School on East Ridgewood Avenue, Paramus, at the time of the crash. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS units responded immediately to 911 telephone calls reporting the incident. As a safety precaution, no students were removed from the school bus at the scene (busy intersection). The bus instead continued to the school (less than 1/2 mile away), where injured students were taken to the nurse’s office for evaluation. An ambulance and EMS Supervisor’s vehicle, along with numerous police vehicles, were observed parked in front of the school following the bus’ arrival there. Police at the crash scene did not indicate if any summonses were issued to either driver.
UPDATE: Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg has reported that the Mercedes driver was issued three (3) summonses: Careless Driving, Reckless Driving, and Failure to stop for a red light. The Mercedes sustained moderate front end damage; a safety device was ripped from the school bus’ front bumper and recovered from the Mercedes’ front right fender by Paramus PD Emergency Services Unit officers.
Paramus NJ, Paramus Police Emergency Services Unit officers were forced to break the rear driver’s side window of a GMC SUV to free its unconscious driver after the vehicle careened off of Route 17 southbound on Sunday morning, and crashed into the parking lot of a Starbucks restaurant. A medical episode may have triggered the crash. The driver was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center’s main campus by a Paramus EMS ambulance. A flatbed tow truck removed the SUV from its predicament.
Paramus NJ, no serious injuries were reported in the early Friday afternoon, 01/13, crash of mini school bus at mile marker 164.8 southbound on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus. The vehicle had been traveling north on the busy highway, but veered to the left, off of the paved roadway when its driver swerved to avoid another vehicle. It then careened across a grass center median & all southbound travel lanes, and came to rest on the southbound, right side grass shoulder. A series of injury-free, chain reaction, crashes on the Parkway’s northbound side occurred immediately after the mini bus careened off of the highway. Two (2) mini bus occupants were transported by ambulance to a local hospital; injuries were reported to have been non-life threatening in nature. The mini school bus was driven off of Parkway property by a tow truck driver and parked at a nearby hotel. A dozen or so occupants (students and teachers) were transported to the Paramus Park shopping mall to safely await repair of the bus, or the arrival of alternate transportation. Paramus Police, Paramus EMS, and the New Jersey State Police responded to the incident
