Ridgewood NJ, Northwest Bergen Central Dispatch Public Safety Telecommunicators (PST) took a 9-1-1 call for a 12-month-old baby not breathing, turning blue. She was able to assist the child’s parents with administering CPR over the phone and bringing the baby back to life before Police/ EMS arrived on scene.

Ridgewood NJ, on Saturday afternoon there was a report of a possible missing child at Graydon pool. The Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department, as well as Ridgewood EMS, responded to Graydon pool for a possible unaccounted-for swimmer. The pool was cleared of all guests during the search. A search of the pool and investigation by the pool staff determined that all swimmers were accounted for.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Baseball and Softball opening day . Ridgewood Baseball and Softball’s 70th annual Opening Day Parade and Family Fun Day to kick off the start of the Ridgewood baseball and softball seasons at Vets Field on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 9 AM to 1 PM.
More than 1200 athletes marched in the parade through town and join their families at VETS field for the Opening Day Family Fun Day Celebration. There are food trucks, inflatables, music, vendors, a Varsity
Baseball game, and several rec baseball and softball games. It is a great community event to kick off the start of the season .

Ridgewood NJ, Five (5) Ridgewood High School students escaped serious injury when their Nissan Pathfinder crashed head on into a utility pole as it rounded a curve on a narrow street near the high school. The late Friday afternoon, 01/27, crash triggered a massive response by local police, fire, and EMS units. One (1) passenger was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for further evaluation. All others were released at the scene to parents. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Pathfinder from the scene. The pole was deemed unsafe by a PSE&G Electric Division troubleshooter and scheduled for immediate replacement. Ridgewood Police at the scene did not indicate whether any summonses would be issued in connection with the mishap.

Ridgewood Nj, after promising residents the retention of Ridgewood Emergency Services during the contentious Village council election and lambasting Mayor Kundsen over the discontinuation of the per diem program , the new council has scheduled Ridgewood Emergency Services to begin its merger with Ridgewood Fire Department on January 1st. Once again voting has consequences .

It is now being reported that possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees that should have been billed in connection with Village provided emergency ambulance transportation, and/or treatment, was neither billed nor collected because Emergency Services volunteers failed to process the required documentation.

Ridgewood NJ, TIES (Teens in Emergency Services) is our youth division of Ridgewood Emergency Services with high school students interested in all facets of healthcare and public safety, who complete trainings and drills as well as volunteer in the community. They did a great job volunteering at Ridgewood’s annual Downtown for the Holiday’s event!

Ridgewood NJ, it was a bit brisk but Mayor Susan Knudsen showed no fear as she was hoisted up the Village of Ridgewood Christmas tree in the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Annual Tree lighting ceremony. Cheers erupted along the Central Business District as the tree came to life. An overflow crowd gathered throughout East Ridgewood Avenue Friday evening to admire the dazzling decorations, enjoy the festivities ,browse vendors,and kick off the Christmas season at the annual Downtown for the Holidays . The Village of Ridgewood tree was a donation , cut and delivered by Downs Tree Service and the lights were donated by Daves Tree Service in Ridgewood.

Ridgewood NJ, a Helicopter landed at Veterans Field in Ridgewood to pick up a patient from Valley and transport them to a hospital in Pennsylvania. It wasn’t as a result of a trauma or anything, apparently a heart patient who needed more care in Pennsylvania.

Ridgewood NJ, a summons was issued to the adult driver of a Ford Mustang 5.0 following a late Sunday afternoon, 11/06, crash in which the vehicle, traveling eastbound on East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, jumped a curb, careened across a sidewalk, and crashed head on into a steel guardrail associated with a bridge over the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook. Neither the driver nor lone passenger was injured in the mishap, but the vehicle and bridge were heavily damaged.
