Ridgewood NJ, Councilwoman Bernadette Walsh resigned at last nights Village Council meeting effective immediately. Ms. Walsh says she is moving out of state . Bernie has been a part of Ridgewood politics for a long time and this was her third term on the council and she had less than two years into it.
Ridgewood NJ, WABC News was camped out all day yesterday since “Its Greek To Me” went public, requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination from all diners who wish to be seated inside the business’s main dining room. The media seems to be lapping it up and “Greek To Me” may have pulled an amazing COVID public relations coup.

Ridgewood NJ, at Wednesday’s Village Council meeting Village Manager Heather Mailander announced that Glenwood Road was reopening going one way from Ridgewood to Ho-Ho-Kus . Glenwood Road hill was closed while the NJ Department of Transportation and NJ Transit improved the railroad crossing at the Ho-Ho-Kus train station.
Despite a recent recommendation by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that all people in Bergen County, including those fully vaccinated, wear face coverings/masks indoors, in public places, no members of the Ridgewood Village Council, nor anyone else on the dais, were observed wearing face coverings/ masks during their Public Work Session, held on Wednesday, August 4.
The Village Council announced during its Wednesday night Public Work Session a proposal to acquire via an eminent domain/condemnation process the former Town Garage property on Franklin Avenue near South Walnut Street. The Village’s intent is to turn the property into a pocket park (park, not parking).
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire Department, and Ridgewood EMS personnel rushed to aid an individual who was injured in a two (2) vehicle crash at the intersection of Linwood Avenue and Northern Parkway on Monday afternoon, 08/02. The victim, who sustained a non-life threatening ankle injury, was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A tow truck removed both wrecked sedans from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, one (1) adult male was apprehended by Ridgewood Police and subsequently taken into custody by NJ Transit Police in connection with an alleged Monday afternoon, 08/02, assault of an on duty, NJ Transit train conductor. The alleged assault took place on a Hoboken bound train, either at or near the Ridgewood station. Both the conductor and alleged assailant were injured. The conductor was transported by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance to The Valley Hospital. The alleged actor was treated at the scene before being placed in handcuffs, secured in the back seat of a NJ Transit marked patrol vehicle, and driven away from the train station for processing at an undisclosed location.
Ridgewood NJ, Valley Health System is pleased to announce the promotion of Toni Modak, MBA, BSN, RN, to the position of Vice President for Valley Home Care (VHC), and a new member of the Valley Health System Executive Staff. Toni’s promotion was effective this month.
Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and State Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli have recommended that New Jersey residents, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, wear masks indoors when there is an increased risk of COVID-19. This recommendation follows the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated guidance that included a recommendation that all individuals resume indoor masking to prevent the community spread of COVID-19.
Ridgewood NJ, Google has announced a series of policy changes that will take place from September 1. Apps that relate to compensated sexual relationships will be removed from the Play Store. Apps that promote sexual services are already banned, but many apps get around these rules by claiming that they are only providing dating services for wealthy men. Google will delete developer accounts if they remain inactive for a year, with exceptions for accounts that have apps with over a thousand installs or recent in-app purchases. Developers will be notified multiple times before their accounts are removed.
