Ridgewood NJ,  today Bergen County broke ground on a cornerstone ecological restoration project that will return the beloved Wild Duck Pond in Ridgewood to that of its glory days, preserving it for the enjoyment of future generations. The restoration is expected to be complete next year and through the construction of stormwater treatment wetlands as well as the installation of a new pond liner, the project will restore ecological functions of the pond, enhance public use, and prevent the threat of fish kills from lack of oxygen. This is yet another project underway in our nearly 10,000 acres of Bergen County Parks System, which demonstrates both the Bergen County Board of Commissioners and administration’s continued commitment to the preservation of open space, the protection of our environment, and the enhancement of our parks.

Ridgewood NJ, the Knighthawk is a drone designed for emergency response personnel. It has a 10x optical zoom camera, a thermal camera, and 55 minutes of flight time. 911 operators can place a pin on a map to direct the drone to sites within seconds of a call being made. No special hardware needs to be installed in the city for the drones to process their surroundings. The FAA has strict rules around visual line of sight for drone operators, so the company behind the Knighthawk has to collect extensive data to get operating waivers, which it has done so far for the two cities it works with.

Graydon Pool will be closed completely on August 24th, and August 30th through September 3rd

Opening day at Graydon in Ridgewood for 2017

Ridgewood NJ, due to the fact that there is a lack of lifeguards, certain areas of Graydon Pool must be closed for safety reasons, from now through Labor Day.  The kiddie pool area and shallow end will be open first, but unless there are sufficient lifeguards, the deep end will not be open.  Currently, Graydon Pool will be closed completely on August 24th, and August 30th through September 3rd.  Part of this is due to the fact that Ridgewood High School will be starting classes on September 1st, which is prior to Labor Day.  This has not happened since the 2015-2016 school year.  As stated above, we are hoping that there are certified waterfront lifeguards in the area who are willing to work at Graydon Pool for these days, so that we may keep the pool open every day through Labor Day.

Ridgewood NJ, unlike other towns with electric signs warning motorist to slow down and drive 25, the Village in a quest to get more people to park in the Hudson Garage has posted an electric sign loudly proclaiming  ,”come to Ridgewood and park in the new Hudson Garage, its only $1.25 an hour” .  Apparently the short fall in parking revenue is beginning to raise a lot of eyebrows . The new signs clearly target those who don’t go anywhere without GPS/navigation.

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood residents got their first look the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Design Assistance Program on August 12th .Lets hope these improvements are more soundly implemented than the “suicide bike lane” and traffic easing disasters of the past witch created dangerous congestion for Ridge school and Ridgewood School students .

The “suicide bike lane” and traffic easing disasters were driven by grant money with little thought to their practical application ,in the real word.
