VILLAGE OFFICES CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC AS OF NOVEMBER 23, 2020

Ridgewood NJ, Due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 positive cases in Ridgewood and New Jersey as a whole, all Village offices will be closed to the public, effective November 23, 2020.  Although the Village offices will be closed, our Village employees will be working in their offices during regular business hours, 5 days per week, to assist you.  If you must come into Village offices for a permit, license or to get information, please call the Village Department you wish to visit and we will make an appointment to allow you to do so.

Village of Ridgewood Revises “Downtown for the Holiday” Event

Ridgewood NJ, The Village of Ridgewood’s Downtown for the Holidays event has a revised plan, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current plan is subject to change, based on  what occurs with the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming weeks. The event will be held on December 4, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The streets will not be closed down, so there will be no fire truck or trackless train.

Please continue to stay safe, “mask up”, but New Danish Study Says Not So Fast

Ridgewood NJ , the Village of Ridgewood leads every COVID19 update with, “Please continue to stay safe – mask up – maintain proper social distancing! “.  However a new Danish study out this morning has found no statistical difference in wearing masks versus not wearing masks as it applies to transmitting COV-19.

“From my perspective, it is time to close ALL the Ridgewood schools, not just GWM, for in person learning even if only for a temporary period while the second wave of the virus crashes upon New Jersey . At the last public BOE meeting Monday evening , Fish and Lembo were self congratulating each other for having kept the Ridgewood schools open while they openly admitted every other surrounding towns/districts have taken more proactive actions to protect the children and staff of their schools by going remote for x days.”

Apple Settles Multistate Lawsuit for Misleading Consumers about iPhone Problems

Ridgewood NJ,  Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal announced today that New Jersey will receive over $3 million as part of a $113 multistate settlement with Apple, Inc., that resolves a multi-state investigation into allegations that Apple misrepresented and concealed from consumers information about performance problems with millions of iPhones.

George Washington Middle School Goes All Remote Learning

Ridgewood NJ, Due to two recent separate positive COVID-19 cases of unknown origin, George Washington Middle School will transition to all remote learning tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17, 2020. Inperson instruction will resume on Monday, November 30, 2020. Please make sure that George Washington Middle School students do not participate in out of school activities during this time of remote learning.

Ridgewood School Reopening Plan Update During New Jersey COVID Spike

Ridgewood NJ, Stacie Poelstra Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum opened the presentation with the New Jersey COVID-19 Activity Level Reports at the Ridgewood Board of Education meeting, which show an increase in the case rate and percent positivity approaching the high activity level. All cases are investigated by the Village of Ridgewood Department of Health. There have been 24 cases in the district up to this point. To continue to make improvements to our plan, several things have been done since October 19. Elementary special education students were given the option to attend school in-person on a daily basis. Elementary teachers received equipment and training to begin the implementation of live streaming for students on their at-home day in the hybrid model.

Ridgewood NJ, Due to health concerns related to COVID-19, the public cannot attend this meeting. The public is welcome to watch from home via the BOE Webcast on the district website or on Fios channel 33.

Public comments can be made by phone or via an online form during the public comment period of the meeting. A link to submit written comments will be available on the agenda during the meeting.

“I was deeply disturbed to learn when the pandemic struck that this absurd plan was not instantly relegated to the dust heap. It was always poorly conceived and at this time with money needed for many other things now and in the future, some of which we can’t even know yet, it is a dreadful thing to borrow and spend millions for an entirely unnecessary re-do to stroke the egos of the library board and create contracts to sign. Bad form. In addition, other towns need the money far more.”

Ridgewood NJ, Shred Day will take place today November 14, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Graydon Pool parking lot, rain or shine. Bring your documents to be securely shredded. This is free to Ridgewood residents and businesses. Limit is 5 cardboard boxes per vehicle. No plastic bags will be accepted.
