Ridgewood NJ, according to resident Boyd Loving , “Shade tree planting in the Village is underway right now, and there are three (3) different contractors doing this year’s plantings. Painted markings like this indicate the locations at which planting will take place.”

Ridgewood Schools Reports 2 Individuals Test Positive for COVID at George Washington Middle School

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood schools are reporting that two individuals from George Washington Middle School have tested positive for COVID19 on November 4th, no other details are available about the individuals . In a letter the District says ,”The District is coordinating closely with public health officials and following CDC, state, and local health department guidance in order to assure the health and safety of our community. Upon conclusion of the investigation, all close contacts were identified and notified. If you have not been notified then your child has not been determined to be a close contact. We clean and disinfect our schools daily. The district is also taking precautions to prevent the introduction and spread of viruses and other germs and is cleaning frequently touched surfaces daily. The status of this situation is fluid, and we are monitoring it closely.”

Mahwah NJ, sources tell the Ridgewood blog , several New Jersey media outlets appear to be colluding with Congressman Josh Gottheimer to suppress news coverage  on Republican challenger Frank Pallotta .  In two recent Trump rallies in both Ridgewood and Skylands that were covered by the Star Ledger and North Jersey media other candidates at these events were mentioned yet in both cases GOP challenger Frank Pallotta was omitted from coverage .

Chain Reaction Crash on Route 17 Backs Up Traffic for Miles

Ridgewood NJ,  Three (3) ambulances were required to transport victims injured in a Saturday morning, 10/24, chain reaction crash on Route 17 southbound in Ridgewood. Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Fire , Ridgewood EMS, Ridgewood Emergency Services, and ALS & BLS personnel from The Valley Hospital responded to aid victims of the incident. At least four (4) vehicles were involved in the mishap; two (2) were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Traffic on Route 17 southbound was restricted to one (1) lane while emergency personnel worked. NJDOT crews cleared the highway of crash generated debris. The Ridgewood Police Patrol Supervisor summoned a member of the department’s Detective Bureau to the scene for an unknown reason.

Ridgewood NJ, the Ridgewood Police Department has seen an increase in reports from residents that unemployment benefits claims have been fraudulently filed on their behalf.
In a large-scale scam erupting in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, imposters are filing claims for unemployment benefits, using the names and personal information of people who have not filed claims. People learn about the fraud when they get a notice from their state unemployment benefits office or their employer about their supposed application for benefits.

Utility Pole Snapped after Being Struck Truck on Oak Street in Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, A utility pole in the 100 block of Oak Street, Ridgewood was snapped in half on Wednesday morning, 10/21 after being hit by a small, refrigerated box truck. No injuries were reported in the mishap, but damage to PSE&G, Verizon, and Cablevision owned equipment was evident. Ridgewood Police and Ridgewood Fire Department responded to the incident. Oak Street between Linwood Avenue and Robinson Lane, Ridgewood was closed to facilitate repairs to downed equipment, for what was estimated to be an extended period.

Ridgewood Schools Reopening Plan: Transition to Phase 2

Ridgewood NJ, Stacie Poelstra Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum opened her presentation on Ridgewood school districts transitioning to phase 2  by sharing COVID-19 activity level data for New Jersey, which currently has the entire state at the moderate level. The district continues to closely monitor health data as it informs our reopening plan and its various phases. Recently, the district surveyed staff, parents, and students to collect feedback on the reopening and input regarding considerations for the next phase. Additionally, our Pandemic Response Teams are meeting consistently to review our plans and progress. Department, faculty, and administrative team meetings also continue to evaluate the reopening, and Dr. Fishbein meets regularly with the Health Officer, Dr. Yankus, and other physicians.
