Ridgewood NJ, there was a water main break at the corner of Woodland Avenue and N. Monroe Street. The water main break temporally caused disruption to morning traffic. Ridgewood water crews are on site with assistance from Ridgewood Police Department.

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Village Manager yesterday morning, the Ridgewood Fire Department received a report of a fire at a west side residence. Upon arrival, smoke and fire were coming from the home. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented the fire from spreading further from the room of origin. The Ridgewood Fire Department was assisted by the Ridgewood Police, Ridgewood Special Operations, OEM, the Bergen County Mutual Aid Coordinators and Glen Rock Ambulance. At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported . Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark offered praise , “I want to thank all our emergency responders for their quick action to protect life and property”

Ridgewood NJ , according to the Ridgewood Police Department the Milling and Paving of Linwood Avenue has been postponed until Monday (7/31). Linwood Avenue will have significant detours and delays starting 7am on Monday. These closures will occur through most of the week. Access to Valley Hospital will be from N Van Dien Avenue.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Water Distribution Crews worked until the early morning isolating and patching a leak on the corner of Upper Boulevard and Glen Avenue. At 2 am they paused work to fill the hole and allow residents to move freely and have water returned to service for the morning commute. The crews then returned during the late morning to replace the broken section and complete the repair so that residents could access this road for the evening commute. This main is located in a dense bedrock trench requiring extensive excavation just to access and then remove the cracked main. Look at all that red rock.

Ridgewood NJ, annual Touch-A-Truck Event – May 18, 2023 – 9:00 am – 2:00 pm – Memorial Park at Van Neste Square – This annual event allows pre-school aged children to take a seat behind the wheel of a real police cruiser, climb aboard a shiny fire truck, and explore up close a fleet of the other emergency and public works vehicles which are usually only seen at a distance. There will also be a Safety Town Kiddie-Car Driving Track, hosted by the Ridgewood Police Department and Little Ivy Learning Center, and a truck story time hosted by the Ridgewood Library. There is no rain date for this event.
Ridgewood NJ, former Ridgewood Police Chief John Ward has taken a new job as supervisor of school security and safety at the Centennial School District in Warminster, PA. The Centennial School District school board, in a 9-0 unanimous vote approved the hiring of John Ward —who has served as police chief for the Stroud Area Regional Police, and Ridgewood Police Department —as the district’s school police officer position.
Ridgewood NJ, the adult driver of a late model Chevrolet Trax was injured in an early Friday evening, 04/28 crash involving a tree in the 200 block of Lakeview Drive, Ridgewood. The victim was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Ridgewood EMTs. Ridgewood Police also responded to the incident. A tow truck removed the wrecked subcompact from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, a contractors performing decorative flooring/tile work may have unintentionally caused the fire that damaged a large single family home in the 200 block of Crest Road, Ridgewood on Tuesday morning, 04/25. Ridgewood firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which had spread up an interior wall prior to their arrival at the home. Two (2) adults and an infant who were present when the fire broke out safely evacuated the home before police and firefighters arrived. Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters assisted Ridgewood Fire Department at the scene. Volunteer Ridgewood Emergency Services personnel also responded to the incident and Ridgewood Police were on hand.
Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood High School was placed into “lockdown” status late Monday morning, 04/17, following receipt of a 911 telephone call reporting the presence of an armed individual wishing to do harm located in the school’s student cafeteria. Ridgewood Police officers rushed to the scene and thoroughly searched the building with the assistance of several nearby police departments; everything was found be in order. Ridgewood Fire department and EMS personnel were on standby outside of the building as a precaution. An investigation of the 911 telephone report’s origin is now underway.
Ho-Ho-Kus NJ, former Ho-Ho-Kus fire chief, is accusing the borough and council of overstepping their bounds by dismissing him from his position. Scott McDermott, who became fire chief in January 2022 and serves as a paid firefighter in Jersey City, filed a lawsuit in state Superior Court in Bergen County on March 17, claiming the borough and the mayor hgd overstepped their authority.
Ridgewood NJ, the 17-year old driver of a Honda CRV sustained minor injuries on Wednesday morning, 03/22, when the vehicle crashed into a tree on Mulberry Place, Ridgewood. The victim was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital. Ridgewood firefighters attended to a crash related fluid spill. The heavily damaged Honda was towed from the scene.
Ridgewood NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JASON LOPEZ (DOB: 1/03/1984; single; unemployed) of 105 Carol Place, Wayne, NJ. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Ridgewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Jacqueline Luthcke.
