Ridgewood NJ, a staircase providing access from East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood to a pedestrian tunnel underneath NJ Transit’s Bergen/Main Line railroad tracks was indefinitely closed on Tuesday morning, 05/14, after an Infinity SUV jumped a curb in front of a parking space, and slammed head on into the staircase’s above ground entrance portal. No injuries were reported in the mishap. A flatbed tow truck removed the Infinity, which reportedly sustained very little damage, from the scene. Ridgewood Police and personnel from the Village’s Building Department responded to the incident.

Ridgewood NJ, a sign denoting two (2) North Broad Street diagonal parking spaces as “Reserved Parking” was erected prior to Village Council members approving the concept, and well before the official adoption of an ordinance that would permit enforcement via issuance of summonses to violators. The two (2) spaces are located adjacent to a Village owned building that once housed a taxi company.

Ridgewood NJ, earlier this week the Village filed letters of intent to apply for two Bergen County grants: a $235,000 grant to upgrade the lighting at Veterans Field and a $599,335 grant for restoration of the pedestrian tunnel at the Ridgewood Train Station. “We are committed to aggressively pursuing grants for our parks and public works,” said Village Manager Keith Kazmark.

Ridgewood NJ, according to Village Manager Kieth Kazmak , Connolly & Hickey Historical Architects, an architecture firm specializing in the restoration and rehabilitation of historic properties has been retained by the Village to design the restoration of the pedestrian tunnel at our train station. Repairing structural issues, ADA considerations and a new aesthetic design, including public artwork, are all part of the project. Later this year, plans will be made available for public review and feedback prior to being submitted to the NJ State Historic Preservation Office for approval.

In addition to full-time students, part-time degree-seeking students taking at least two courses are also eligible for the Student Pass fare.
